I was working on a friend's v3m doing some seem edits and the usual (changing the banners, changing outsidee lcd image, etc.) and I thought of something: is there a way to possibly change the outside display on the e815 to an image instead of the text (Verizon Wireless)? Instead of having the text, which I edited to make blank, you could have a custom image that would display when you open the screen. I edited my skins so that the outside image was different than the inside skins, but with this mod, the outer lcd image would be different when it is closed and open. So I got to work, and found this thread here: http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=849924. I uploaded my image (outer.gif) to /a/mobile/outer.gif, then did the seem edits for the v3m, changing the outside text seem (2771) to /.a./.m.o.b.i.l.e./.o.u.t.e.r...gif and the same for 2772, and then unchecked seem 275a record 1 bit 27 to enable the image. When I did this, I got the motorola logo on the outside lcd, but it didn't display my image. After reading through to make sure I didn't miss anything, I realized I hit a rock. So, if anyone out there wants to join my experiment and contribute any ideas, that would be awesome. If you have any thoughts, post away! I'll be sure to post if I get it to work.
