Hey guys

i need your opinion on something. I got a slvr from cingular and I am really hating the fact that I drop calls every second. I am in the North Miami area. I dont know if its the phone or cingular.

I need to know whats the next best phone from cingular is, as far as reception goes. I am not really looking for a smart phone, so blackberry and any windows system phones are out.

please help me out, it would be much apprecaited.
thanks in advance guys

Sounds like you're in a weak signal area or your phone is defective. Motorola SLVR L7 is on par with a lot of the higher end phones as far as reception goes. I have one and I get pretty good reception and call quality (I've used a V3, w600i, 6102i, L7 and currently an 8700c).

Technically speaking a Nokia rep showed us a diagram of the phones that drop the fewest calls. The lowest was the 6010 and next lowest was the 6682. So if you want good reception, get one of those phones.

woot 6682 not bad for a smartphone

Yeah, I seem to be having the same problem here in Miami. I ebayed a European SLVR L7 and thought that my reception problems stemmed from it not being a Cingular phone. It worked perfectly when I was with T-mobile, but since my switch I'm dropping calls like crazy. Its horrible!

is there anywhere that cingular is not currently having problems with dropped calls? seems everyone is having this issue. so ironic.

Get a Nokia 6682.

i know, t-mobile looks awfully good right now while cingular twiddles its thumbs trying to figure out why my medianet does not work...

Razr: I know everybody has one, but great RF! Good, solid phone!

SE w810i: Good all around phone, great RF, Walkman, expandable memory, 2mp camera...etc.

Cingular was too late on releasing the v3i, plus theres not that much difference between the v3 and the v3i

The chocolate (although on verizon) looked like a contender, but I think that its not going to do nearly as well.

If they can market the KRZR as well as the RAZR that'll be the next one. Then again, with all the complaints i've heard about the v3, it may not happen.

My V3i (unlocked unbranded) actually gets better signal than my v3.

Since the phone worked fine on t-mobile, was the phone possibly tri-band, and lacking the 850 band? Cingular pretty much uses that (850), while t-mobile uses 900

the v3i AFAIK is quadband. there shud be no difference at all

Oh sorry, I was talking about maybe the SLVR he purchased maybe was tri-band.

IMO... in the us, motorola fones w/ cingular service if the worst brand for reception next to LG. I've had the moto v400, v551, and the v3 razr in 2 differently locations (my houses) and I was lucky if I got 2 bars of service. I recently switched th sony ericsson fons (have s710a, w600i, and w300) and havn't had reception issues since

Thats odd, because in my experience, motorola phones (v551, v3, SLVR, v3i) have had better reception than sony ericsson phones (z500a, z520, w600i).

IMO moto has bad reception, ive had a couple of moto phones, they get bad reception comapred to my SEs

Posted by: m03mckinnie

I guess it just depends where you are, because my moto's were top notch for signal. Nokia 3595 is still king.

Posted by: N4KVE

No dropped calls in West Palm Beach with a LG CU300. Been with Cingular 3 months & no dropped calls yet. GARY N4KVE

Posted by: m03mckinnie

The only dropped calls I had was with my d807, POOREST reception on a phone I have EVER seen.

Posted by: breathe

stop buying motos :P

i cant stand em...my girl wanted a SLVR. that idea was stiked down in about 2 seconds. she has a nice sony ericsson on the way now
