I am looking at getting a NET10 prepaid phone, the Motorola C139. The reason for looking at this phone is that I hate when I forget to plug my phone in to charge it and then find out that I can't use it because I forgot to charge it the night before. FYI, I am currently a Verizon customer, but am considering switching to T-Mobile or Cingular, or possibly another local GSM carrier... Unicel.
Mainly am looking for whether this is possible to see whether I should bother with buying the phone, as it shows on phonescoop.com that this phone is rated for something like 12 hours of talk time and over two weeks of standby, which I think is just insane, but useful when I forget to charge it for a few days.
And if you're thinking that I will soon go over my monthly minutes, most of my calls are mobile to mobile. Anyways, is this possible? Most likely I would assume that this would require flashing the phone to get rid of the airtime thing or something else... Correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks for your time, I am just curious if this is possible because I would love to have that battery life.
If it matters, I currently have a Nokia 1100b on NET10, so in general know the coverage isn't great in the area, but where I would need the phone, it would work.
Just noticed that Cingular offers the C139, but as I am planning on probably modding the phone, would rather not get the C139 from Cingular, for the reason that I don't believe that I would be very happy if I lost the use of my phone because of a failed mod. If I were doing this on a phone that I had laying around instead of the phone that would come with a contract, that would also allow me to get a different phone as well, have been looking at the SLVR because I don't feel that the RAZR's hinge would last over a 2-year contract, plus the mini-usb is the best idea motorola has had for a while.... (PSP Data Cables work, can be bought at walmart for $5)
