Hi guys I just ordered my Blackberry 7100i from nextel and I need to know something. I keep calling nextel customer care but they have no clue. I was wondering if I can text message people (not email) with the unlimited BB pakage im paying $39 for. Will I receive and reply to normal text messages without the extra text messaging pakage or do I have to get it? Or can it text at all? Thanks in advance guys.

Blackberry Messenger is free. You can use your BES email addresses or peer to peer (Each other's PIN).

I believe you are referring to SMS messaging. This is where you enter a phone number to send a test message to. I believe that is an additional feature from Nextel.

Nextel is going to charge you $0.10 for each text message, sent or received. I don't even see an option to buy unlimited text messaging in their plans.

Ask Nextel for their 'cell phone e-mail address'. All carriers have some sort of an e-mail address for each phone line. I only know the ones for the Canadian providers...

123456789@msg.telus.com
123456789@fido.ca
123456789@txt.bellmobillity.ca

I have these 4 programmed on my 7130, and use them everytime I want to send a text. The sweet part is that there's no separate text messaging fee. The bad part is, you have to know what carrier the recipient's on to send the text. (or you could just blast it to all carriers, and receive 4-5 errors back, and have 1 go through)

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

Nextel does not have text messaging. It all counts as mms, they will rape you on charges

i have the same problem to same phone i went from i870 to 7100i i had text on it before and now i don't have the option to send a text, so with the bb there is no text massaging there is only mms but when i called to have text put back on they said that i could send text mesg out and get them in. this would go with my bucket of min, this sucks if i can't send out text mesg and they only come with mms because then you get charges per use. i can't beleave RIM made the phone like that. if thats the case i will just go back to my old phone then until i get the sidekick 3
