Hey guys I have a quick question here:

My friend lives in Mississauga and has Bell as her Service Provider for her cell phone. I live in Winnipeg. I have unlimited calling in north america with my home telephone service provider. So I was going to call her cell (She has unlimited nights and evenings). She told me not to call her cell phone because she would get long distance charges. I told her she would NOT get long distance charges since I am the one initaiting the call (it would only detract from her minutes but since I'd be calling at 10pm, it's unlimited for her). She INSISTED that she would get charged long distance on her cell phone if I called her. I told her NO YOU WILL NOT as long as you are in your local calling area!

She doesn't believe me and we have now made an AWESOME bet. I won't go into the details of the bet, but let's just say I get to see a bit of tail....lol.

I am so sure I'm right, because this is how all home telephone systems work and every provider here in Manitoba (Telus, MTS, and Rogers) DO NOT charge you long distance if you are the receiving party and are in your local calling area. I automatically assume Bell would be the same.

So she is calling Bell tomorrow in the morning to find out. However, the fact that she was SO CONFIDENT that she would certainly be charged long distance, it got me second-guessing myself.

Can anyone clear this up for me?

I say you'll need to Post some Pics of your action!
Or you can call my Toronto City Fido & then we can 3 way her ! 3 way call I mean !

Only way she could be charged long distance is when the handset is outside of its local calling area.

maybe she was just using the LD excuse because she doesn't want you to call her.

That's ok, you can spare us your "punani report" ;-)

Happy long-distance dialing though ....

the way I describe it is when you make the phone call, you are calling her local switch, which then calls her phone with the phone call. if she is out of her home calling area when you call, you are still calling the local switch to her, but then that switch has to call another switch to get to her phone, and would result in ld charges if she is out of her hca

but that is what I get for working 2 years at congular/attws for convergys blah
