making mp3 ringtones louder?

I have the Moto V325, and when I upload MP3 ringtones they play great, but aren't loud at all, so much so unless it is pretty quiet you wouldn't hear it a room away.

I've seen a lot of posts that say to manipulate the MP3 before uploading with software like Sound Forge or dbpoweramp, but my question is what do you need to do in these programs to make the mp3 louder? thoughts?

thanks!

amplify it.

I use Adobe Audition 2.0 and I usually boost my mp3s from either 1 to 3 decibels. I usually take out the bass, boost the mids and slightly raise the highs. I find that adding bass tends to make the mp3s sound distorted

The best way i do it goes like this

1. dBPowerAmp , convert your MP3 to WAV ( also good for quality settings )
As louder songs need better quality...
2. Open that WAV in Windows Sound Recorder
3. Go to Effects > Increase Sound by 25%
4. Save it , listen for distortion, if none repeat step 3 , untill ure WAV becomes too distorted. This way you can open back up that WAV to the perfect levels.
Note that sound recorder doesnt CLIP sounds easy aswell like Audacity..
5. Covert WAV to MP3 in dB...
6. Transfer to phone

My Motorola L6 and anyone who has one would or SHOULD know that maxing out the sound is incredibley loud on the L6's speaker
