I just got this phone, I've never tried to modify a phone but i figured it would be easy with this one because it has a place for microSD memory.

My goal is to make this phone my mp3 player to replace my old 256meg iriver while exercizing and traveling. I think the sound quality is as good as an ipod, granted i'm an audiophile who thinks all mp3s suck.

So following the motoguide i got mototunes working. Then I decided to load 98 songs. Well mototunes froze up, access violation I believe. After this I spent forever just trying to get mototunes to put 1 song on my phone. I kept getting "Exception EInOutError" and "Exception EFCreateError" messages with mototunes when it tried to finish sending a file. I tried regular itunes but it couldnt see the phone. Eventually I reinstalled mototunes and deleted the files in L:\iTunes\iTunes_Control\iTunes. Then I was able to send a song to the phone once more.

Any ideas about it crashing with 98 songs? I'm about to try it again so I can fully report the errors. I have it converting everything above 192 cbr to 192 cbr.

Secondly, I read the thread where you guys tried to get the 2gig microSD to work. Kudos on trying so hard. Do you actually expect Cingular to update the firmware? I don't .... they want people to upgrade their phone - 2gig capability is not something they promised. Also Itunes has a 100 song limit - so they wouldn't expect customers to want that update.

Another question about mototunes: When I buy my 1gig microSD (which will come with an adapter) I would like to be able to use my computer's SDcard input (USB 2.0 speeds). So can I make mototunes output to a file on my pc before I move it to the audio file on the microSD? I do not see an option for this.

Finally, how do you guys create jpeg images smaller than 14kb that are readable? I wanted to show the error messages.

When I add 100 songs mototunes gives me "Exception EInOutError in module moto_tunes.exe at 00101035 I/O error 21."

Then when I check the phone it has 85 songs on the phone and in mototunes. There is a 86th song that is 0kb.

I tried this several times with the same results. When I load just 85 songs it works perfectly.

Also, regarding my question about outputting mototunes to your harddrive so you can move songs faster: is mototunes only necessary due to the itunes file system it creates? If so can't we just load the files into /Audio and then read the phone with mototunes and Then create the iTunes file system files?

ok in case anyone was wondering ....

the error message occurred because i was filling up my microSD card with 85 songs (this possibility didn't occur to me because you guys were getting over 100)

ok so now I bought a 1 gig card - mototunes searches for transflash and treats the card location as the phone when the phone is not attached (card reader). SO it works perfect and fast

also using the guide on http://slvr.themotoguide.com/ i was able to get itunes1000 working on the phone.

also making your own mp3 ringtones is easy. the guide linked here (http://www.ninetoez.net/moto/maketones.html) is fine for making them, but the only tool you need to do this itunes. you can either reflash your phone as instructed at http://www.slvrhackers.net/home/mod...showpage&pid=16 or you can just connect to your phone with Mobile Phone Tools (just get the newest version and update.)

I tried to get into seems and flashes and flexes, yada yada. I'm taking a break. Maybe I'll figure out how to load some games, but seriously - there is so much to this ****!
