I Need help with using Motorola Phone Tools it downloaded but it wont connect to my razr v3c it says installing phone but it doesnt instal

Find one of Mark Ventures posts and use the link to his site. Download the drivertools.exe, run it without the phone plugged in, then plug your phone in and let the insalls go taking defaults. Check the drivers in devices and you should see the Motorola modem if so you are good to go. Now you can start MPT with the phone plugged in and it should work.

when you say the computer wont detect it.. do you mean MPT? or do you mean that it wont even show in device manager?

i.e. look in device manager, under MODEMS.. do you see Moto USB Modem?

If yes.. next question.. What EXACT version of MPT do you have? if its below 4.04b, then MPT wont autodetect the V3C...

Try live updating MPT to the current version which is 4.21a...

I don't know at which version MPT included support for the V551..

what version do you have and where did you get it?

if its 3.xxL (where xx can be any number)... it can't be live updated as its the "LITE" version... and per BVRP's support forums... you'd have to purchase a newer version.

If its version 3.40i.. that is a KNOWN BOGUS version that can't be updated.

If you feel you've purchased a legit non-lite version of MPT, you can always contact BVRP and talk to them about upgrading.. http://www.bvrpforums.com/motorola/

This version I got "HAD" the Multimedia icon but it was grayed out. I then upgraded and it totally went away?.... The phone on my screen before the update was not my model of phone it was different but still worked but when I did the upgrade it had my phone as pictured below and everything works but no multimedia? Do I need a sim card in it to do the ringtones and pictures or is the memory in the phone enough?

I want to add some tunes......Help me!

Exactly WHICH VERSION do yo have now?

And when you say your "computer wont detect" exactly what do you mean? Does it show as a Moto USB Modem in device manager or not? Or are you saying that MPT doesn't see the phone?

And you do know that Verizon disables the ability ON THE PHONE to make use of MPT's MultiMedia Studio feature, right? You need to SEEM EDIT your phone to re-enable its compatibility (seem 2742, offset 6A, bit 0)... Then either seem edit the phone's id string, or manually config MPT to see your phone as V3MM (or V3CM) to get the MultiMedia Studio icon to show...

"flash the bios" as in upgrade the phone's firmware? or re-apply the phone's firmware?

If so, MPT is not used for that... and the tools that I have used to flash moto's do NOT require MPT to even be installed...

as far as that error message... I haven't see it before... perhaps if you check the BVRP support forum, you might get an answer? -> http://www.bvrpforums.com/motorola/

Have you heard of such screen alignment issues?

EDIT: someone at bvrp had just posted about the telephony issue I was having, turns out a windows service was disabled, solved. On to the firmware.

Mark, may I ask which of the motorola softwares you've gathered up might be the most appropriate to flash my phone? Thanks.

just READ the entire page carefully.. don't make the mistake of just "skimming"!!!!

You can use the walk thru as-is... EXCEPT use the following values... SEEM = 2742, Bytes (h) 0000... the other values in the walk thru are fine.... the walk thru and pictures were written back when the V710 came out, and it used a different SEEM and Bytes (h) value than the E815, V3C and V3M...

Looks like I'm having a similar problem...new RAZR v3, Cingular svc, installed MPT via on-line download from motorola site 1 Sep 06, did live update, have v. 4.21a ....strange but true, was able to synch my outlook contacts but when it went to do calendar, it choked, now it says "USB Device Not Recognized...One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it.". Have power cycled both pc, phone, unplugged USB cable every which way...reinstalled MPT, etc....am stuck... any ideas anyone?

Usually when that message comes up... its due to the USB port, cable, or port on the phone...

I've seen the cable not being completely plugged in causing this, then each time you try after, it gives the same message...

Try another USB port on your PC, if it works, then everything is ok, and you'd have to "clean up" how windows identifies your phone when plugged into the original usb port...

Am thinking it is either the phone or that the driver went bye bye...moving the cable to another port was the only thing I did not do, have since done so and shurnuff, so did the UNKNOWN DEVICE in the Windows bubble pop up. When I go thru the MPT Wizard (or the control panel's phone/modem add modem) to install manually, I get to Add OTHER DEVICE, click on Motorola (have done this several times using both Motorola USB Modem...thought was maybe the s/w thinks the phone is a modem....and also Motorola PHone...both these options result in a warning: "!This driver is not digitally signed". When I follow thru with the wizard, I get to the point to "...on which port?" and "selected" is clicked, the other ioption is grayed out. when I click on ok, the wizard only allows BACK or CANCEL. Went to the bvrb site, scoured their forum, downloaded the driver tool zip file and did the whole dance over, tried adding the motorola modem and the motorola phone to the pc's modem list, but still does not work. Since I downloaded from the moto site, I did not get a disk...have a business trip in less than 48 hrs now and looks like will be lugging the treo with me instead. if it is the driver, how does one get it to load in the modem file? or how does one get a digitally signed driver so the wizard recognizes it? Thnx so much!!!!

Update...2 Sep 06...after leaving pc off all night, unplugged phone, unplugged cables and after I posted earlier this morning...lo and behold, I replug everything in, turn on system and voila motorola usb modem driver is in my phone/modem folder, MPT works, calendar synchs (not the greatest though, thought it would auto synch everything...but you have to do so manually). I come back to MPT this afternoon, and problem recurs, motorola modem still listed in pc's folder but bubble pops up during initialization stating UNKNOWN DEVICE again. Thoughts anyone????

my prob with mpt is that if i try and send an IM or text MPT wont read any contacts unless they are on the sim card. anyone else run across this?

Okey Dokey............... I got all the stuff I needed to do the "seem edit" but this is the screen I get after I say load from phone?

It doesn't let me do anything (I did save my original like you said to do it at least saved a file for me?)

How do I get the hex editor to come up?

I'm having problems with MPT.
I have done the seem edits to allow MPT transfer and to show the phone as V3MM. But when I add a ringtone to the audio file, it doesn't show up in my phone. Also, MPT won't allow me to sync my phone book for some reason. It will show all my contacts on my phone, but won't let me save them to my computer.
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix? I'm thinking it might be a problem with MPT? I have version 4.2.1a.

As a noob, this has been a great forum! Following everyone's work/instructions, i've been able to get the seem edits to work, got connected to MPT with the multimedia, got bluetooth connection to MPT working, but...

I've been having some trouble syncing the outlook calendar to my v3m. I've been searching the forum, but I haven't found anyone commenting on how the v3m doesn't seem to be able to receive all day events or repeated events. Isolated events with a time seem to sync ok most of the time, although occasionally it will simply not save an event to the phone. Is there a way around this? or did I miss a seem edit?

Also, does anyone know any way around the contact group limitation on the v3m? My outlook contact book has far too many people in the same group...

The V3M having the Verizon UI, and possibly a VZW Calendar app... might function differently, but...

On the V710/E815.. Its known MPT does have some issue syncing calendar appointments... BVRP attributes it to the phone's calendar limits... One of the issues I remember... If the appointment's start or end date/time is outside the two week sync range, it wont be copied to the phone. So if an appointment repeats every monday for 12 weeks, its not getting copied to the phone...

Not sure about the all days thing...

If you purchased a Legal/Legit copy, you can ask for help over in BVRP's support forum -> http://www.bvrpforums.com/motorola/ skim the threads and their faq, you might even find the answer without asking...

I have no comment on this as the V710 and E815 I have use the Moto UI, the contacts are done differently than with the VZW UI the V3M has..

How come everybody else can get MPT's multimedia studio working when I can't?

I've been to MarkVenture's site a whole bunch of times and read everything I could and tried everything, but there were always errors when I tried running the different programs needed to do the seem edits and stuff. I had so much trouble on it I kinda gave up.

Oh well. Since I must have messed up so bad I think I'll uninstall all of the MPT stuff and delete all of the other programs and try doing it from the beginning, reading even more carefully.

I have a slightly different problem that I'm hoping someone can help me with. I have a motorola v325 from verizon. I can sync the phone and calendar. However, the times on my calendar are all wrong by 6 hours.

The times are correct on MPT before I sync, and they remain correct on my computer. It's just my phone...

that is the BIGGEST problem people have. Sorry, I have a LOT of details because of so many questions... But trust me, reading ALL if the info (even the fine print) makes a BIG DIFFERNCE!!

Next... Post Exactly what you did... including details of exactly what programs you used any version numbers (don't just say "latest version"), what you see in device manager and when, what drivers and from where you go them, what values you used in P2KSeem for V710 (seem, bytes(h), offset, bit), what you clicked, when, and what you saw, etc..

i.e. the more details the better.

I had a similar problem with E815. Uninstall the MPT and then deactivate windows firewall and any antivirus software you are using. You may just be able to turn it off on your taskbar or "Start" Run, type in msconfig....and uncheck and of the files that deal with your antivirus. Restart and install MPT and it should detect your Phone. Then reactivate your antivirus software.

It worked for me.

I have an M325 from Verizon.
I have done the seem edit to allow MPT to work.
I can open the phone synchronization, can find my Outlook Express address book, and can move entries from it to the phone.

Question:
My phone supports "groups". I have a lot of entries I want to copy over that are seasonal, and would like to assign them all to a group so that I could find and delete them all later. But I do not see any way to indicate or map a group. I created a group in OE and the Phonebook tool can see it, but it does not appear on the phone when I move that entry over.

Is this something that can only be managed from the phone itself?

What I'd really like is for the Phone Tool to recognize the folder in which the name/phone number is found and use that as the group.

I used MPT alot. Then I didn't use it for a couple days and now I can do everything except use the media transfers. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and everything. No luck. What a waste of money.

The Krzr K1M is not directly supported in MPT v4.21a...

Some have reported success manually setting MPT for V3M as the phone.

I backed up my phone. Where in hell the software puts backup file now?

I want to locate it so I can save it on cdrom. I can't find it anywhere!

It seems I am not the only person with this problem. I tried for 2 hours last night to get this program to work. When it asked me to connect my phone via the usb to the computer, I do that..then just when its just about finished downloading(95%) it says "make sure phone is unlocked" what????unlocked????I have a locked phone thru cingular. Am I doing something wrong? all I want to do is download a few pics & some tune to my phone. I want it to be simple...I am so................frustrated. HElp please~

I finally got mobile phone tools to work with my phone but i wont to know what program i need to do seem editing and how to use that program to make my volume on my phone louder than level 7 and put skins on my phone. I have a Razr V3C For alltel if that matters.

Hi I'm sorry to intrude...

Okay a little about My problem, I recieved a Black V3 razr phone... from cingular. I had a pentium 1/2 computer and I recieved a disk with a cable. The disk did NOT work so I got Motorola phone tools online, I had windows 2000 and I downloaded p2k tools before I got motorola phone tools. Everything was fine, then I got another phone yesterday and an E-MACHINES computer with windows XP. I tried downloading the program again... from my old drive that I put into this computer. I have four usb ports, I tried all 4, I put the cable in and it makes the sound as if it connects, then 10 seconds later makes the sound as if it disconnects. I tried opening a p2k tools program and it said disconnected, I re-plugged it and it worked. I tried opening a mobile tools program and no matter what I do it will NOT connect, anyone know what's going on?
