Guide to the Motorola V360: How to Setup Mp3 Ringtones and Games for NOOBIES!

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Neph_Said

Neph_said here with a simple tutorial on how to set up custom mp3 ringtones and games for those lucky people with the Motorola V360. To begin, I have to make these 3 things clear:

1) THERE'S NO NEED TO DOWNLOAD SOFTWARE TO INSTALL MP3 RINGTONES OR GAMES!. Only the driver software will be needed, unless you have windows XP then there's no need to worry about this.

2)I WILL NOT answer questions on how to create custom mp3 ringtones nor will I post links on where to get the programs to create them. Neither will I post links to sites with games. I urge you people to find out on your own how to create mp3 ringtones and to do so I'll recommend Audicity and the Mobile Phone Tools.

3)I will only explain how to install these games and mp3 ringtones to your phone.
Now that this has been made clear here's the tutorial:

How to set up Mp3 Ringtones

1. Hook up your MotoV360 to your USB cable

2. Open up My Computer > Removable Disk > Mobile > Ringtone

3. Copy your mp3 file into this folder.
(I believe the file has to be under 30 or 40 seconds in order for it to work properly. I've honestly not tested the limitations and I would not recommend you put in a whole song.)

4. Close the window Ringtone and remove your MotoV360 from the USB cable.

5. On your cellphone go on to Fun & Apps > Sounds

6. Press the Menu Key and Select Switch Storage Device then select TRANS
(TRANS would be your memory card. This is where the songs are stored when put in thru the computer.)

7.Look around for your mp3 ringtone that you put in and once you find it press the Menu key while it is highlighted. Your options and choices for this song will be displayed. At this moment select Move or Copy and choose the PHONE as your location.

8.Press the Menu key once more and Switch Storage Device back to your PHONE.

9.Go on to Settings > Ring Styles > [Your Style Selection]Detail > Calls and your mp3 ringtone should be available for selection.

I hope that helped out anyone out there looking to set up their own personal mp3 ringtones and the like.

Plus, a quick tip to better this tutorial is to make sure you mp3's quality is NOT OVER 192kb since this is the maximum the phone will support, and in terms of size be sure to keep it to a minimum since you are placing this file into your phone which does not hold much memory to begin with.

Moving on now...

How to set up Games
1. Hook up your MotoV360 to your USB cable

2. Open up My Computer > Removable Disk > Mobile > kjava

3. Copy your .jar plus .jad file into this folder.

4. Close the window kjava and remove your MotoV360 from the USB cable.

5. On your cellphone go on to Fun & Apps > Games & Apps

6. Press the Menu Key and Select Switch Storage Device then select TRANS

7.Select [Install New] and you will see 2 files with the same name. Choose the one that has the small icon of a coffee cup on the left side. The setup up will begin and simply follow the prompts by selecting yes where needed. Once the installation is complete all you have to do is enjoy your new game and done

Simple and easy isn't it?

Feel free to post this tutorial elsewhere and pass it along as long as you provide credit to me, Neph_said.
Bye for now.

I've also confirmed that this is the easiest way to install skins for the Motorola V360:

Afterwards, go onto the Personalize option and select your skin.
Just follow these easy steps and you're set.

Plus if you're still in need of drivers or alternate software such as p2kcommander and the such, I recommend you follow this link:

I wanted to ask if ANY .jar file is supported on the V360. an error Message showed up "application error". it's a puzzle bobble game.jar if you want me to specify

Do you know how to edit mp3 to make them shorter so that they won't take up as much space as ringtones --- edit them so that it plays only a couple second intro in sounds as opposed to the whole song?

Posted by: Neph_Said

The v360 doesn't support all jar files. Usually the site you download the file from will specify what type of phone it was meant for OR what other phone it works with. If not you can just do the simple trial and error test. Nothing has happened to my phone as a consequence (yet) but in any case I wouldn't advise doing that yourself.

As for editing songs there are plenty of progams out there to make them shorter and small in memory. Personally I'd recommend Motorola Phone Tools. Its does both for you and its easy to customize the song down to the split second.Plus it automatically makes the size of the song smaller. The quality of the song isn't lowered in a way thats noticable at all. I'm sure a google search will bring up plenty of other useful programs that do the same. Of course most are pay-to-use.

what is the exact specifications or format the ringtone should be in meaning bit rate and stuff because i got have a editor that will cut the song into wav. and then i usually convert it into mp3 using a different program. can it be done that way because thats the way i did my nextel phone idk should i get software that does it both at a time or can it be done this way?i dont wanna mention any software names because i aint really sure of the rules yet so could someone answer my question asap?i tried the above method but when i do it in mp3 it says file corrupted and asks me if i wanna delete it but when i do it with wav. format it works but cannot be assigned as a ringtone.i dont kno ive been searchin on this problem around a few different forums and this one actually came pretty close. any help would be appreciated. thank you

try making it 64 kbps and mono sound. Remember not to make the ringtone more than about 40 seconds. I only load 29 second ringtones. Also make sure the file size and bit rate are under 192
