8700 backlight won't turn off

I have my backlight time out at 30s, auto light and led cover light on.
Problem started today, the backlight won't turn off in standby. Kills battery, any way to fix it?

Have you tried resetting the unit by removing the battery?

Removing the battery is a "soft" reset which won't cause any data or settings to be lost.

I 3rd the "removing the battery and placing it back to see if that helps" suggestion.

i didn't replace the battery but restarted it 2x. The problem went away. No clue but oh well. At least it's working.
