Just incase you have been wondering about this phone. Well................... it is pretty much the worst phone that samsung has produced. I can not find web service, it is utterly impossible to hack. In other words this phone is the lowest on samsungs production line bar none. Glad to help. Keep it real and Peace

The Samsung SCH-a650 has been one the best phones I ever used.

It's a basic tri-mode phone. You can't expect it to have all the bells & whistles in it. I do wish it had an outside display, but otherwise, the reception on it worked great, both in major cities and most rural areas I traveled. I wish more basic phones were made like the Samsung SCH-a650.

I don't want a camera, but wouldn't mind bluetooth to be available (though unlikely on a low-end phone). I have the phone as a backup, in case I need to revert back to it, either when i travel to an area the Samsung SCH-a930 doesn't work, or if the phone quits working for any reason. I want a phone that works like a phone, not have every bell & whistle crammed into a phone.

I had mom switch to it from her a310 that she loved to the 650 and she loves it .

What i am saying is that there are better basic phones out there and I do not reccommend buying this one. Besides if you are intrested in hacking your phone this aint the phone ya want either

This phone has been discontinued anyway... If you want hackability, go with Moto, Nokia, or LG

The Samsung a650 has been discontinued for a year now, though my local Verizon Wireless corporate store had the phone in stock until January of this year.
As for being able to hack, I have heard Samsung phones are difficult to hack, and even harder to hack since newer VZW phones (in general) have the VZW UI on them instead of the manufacturers's UI. I don't even know if Samsung GSM phones can be hacked easily, though GSM phones usually don't have to be hacked in anyway. For people who want a phone to use as a phone, then this a good choice, if you can get your hands on it. I got mine around the time it was released, and got my Samsung a930 over a month after it was released. Depending on my needs, I may look at another basic phone when I upgrade in May 2008.

But you could still buy this phone on ebay or from a private party so it is still possible to get a hold of but i dont reccommend it

Moms hinge decided not to want to stay open no more they wanted her to upgrade toa a630 but i got her a pp motorola one cheap.
