So i'm in the market for a PDA type phone. From browsing these forums it seems the 8125 is a popular choice. Im wondeirng what I should get, or is there something new and great just around the corner I should wait for?

Ditto.
If you have to have one today, the 8125 is what I'd get. But otherwise I say wait 1-2 months for the 8525 or Treo 750W

I have to add that the 8525 will be substantially more expensive than the 8125, so if you are on a budget and 3G speed is not a major buying point for you, you might want to consider the 8125.

What do you want the PDA phone to do? What type of computer will you be sync'ing the PDA phone with?

As a Cingular customer you have 4 basic choices. PDA phones based on PalmOS, SymbianOS, BlackberryOS or WindowsMobileOS.

If your running a Mac isync will only do so much, you may have to buy a 3rd party sync program from Mark/Space or PocketMac.

Do you want or need: a full qwerty keyboard? bluetooth? wifi? Edge? 3G?etc....

I'd only wait for the upcoming 3G devices if you are travelling in places where you are going to get the benefit of the speeds.

For some people, like me, EDGE is all you are going to get in most places you travel, even for the next year +, so a 3G device is kinda pointless. An existing EDGE capable PPC Phone will not only get you something a little cheaper, but you'll also have the benefit of a more stable ROM and less likelyhood of major problems w/ an un-field-tested device. There are frequently issues w/ first release ROMs.
