Motorola RAZR V3 battery.

I have read forums, reviews on the Motorola V3 RAZR battery life of some people not being very good.
I know about turning off blue tooth, letting battery die down completely and then charging for 12hrish. However, my problem is that my battery life showed 3/4 full at night time when I went to bed, I TURNED MY PHONE OFF. Today after getting home from school, my phone would not power up, the battery was dead. I do not talk very often, 20 min max a day, never text or do internet. Turned off displays, screen savers, backlight. Does anyone have advice or experienced this problem.
Thanks,
nickc

Well, I think we're going to need some more input. 1. Do you ever do any modding to the phone, especially flashing? i don't want to assume things from your post count, but you never know. 2. Is it the battery that came with the phone or is it a spare you bought from your provider? 3. Do you ever use your USB cable at all?

It could be that flashing your phone to the newest firmware could solve your problem. My old phone that I gave to my fiance was flashed to R374_G_0E.42.0ER but I found it to be very hard on her battery. But I switched to another battery and it was fine. It could just be the battery you have. If you do go to buy another one, I would not recommed buying one from the cellular stores. Some people, like myself, question the quality of the things bought from cellular providers. Some also say that conducting any modifications on the battery you use for the purpose of operating your phone can reduce it's life as well. My advice: buy a brand new OEM battery from a place you can trust and/or update the firmware.

I'm sorry. Original battery, DON"T KNOW WHAT FLASHING OR FIRMWARE IS??? I just use my phone to talk...that is it. I dont have a USB cable, but I wish I did for picture transfer from phone to computer. Have never messed w/ the battery.

I think buying a new battery. Anyone have suggestions for good places, online?

What kind of signal are U getting with your phone? If U are far from a cell tower, the phone works harder. If U are getting a good strong signal from the tower, the battery should last longer. I don't know if the above statement is true or not, but that is what a technician told me.

I don't know for certain either, but I've been told the same thing, and it makes sense. I believe the phone cranks up the power when the signal is weakest, resulting in shorter battery life.

I have great service, my phone is never searching for towers. Always get great reception.

NOTE: Just starting yesterday. I charge my phone completely before I go to bed. Turn my phone off, the next morning I turn my phone back on and THE BATTERY IS DEAD.........What is the deal.

is the battery contacts bent in any way?? check...
have you had the battery re-conditioned for 18 hours at a service repair centre?
have you had the phone inspected by a certified motorola technician to determine if there is a higher than normal current draw from the board (possible defect)?

Talking abount funky battery pblms, I was running my battery out today on purpose and finally started getting the the low bat sounds etc. I turned on FTS so I could see the bat stats and when I powered back on the phone was at two bars! This is with the new 17 firmware.

Man I have to figure out where the battery data is stored on the phone so we can retrain it. Being Li-ion, reconditioning shouldn't be necessary but the SOC code might need a reset of sorts.

Do you have any issues with the latest v3 firmware? I'm having severe battry drain issues with the one i'm running...even with 3 different batteries...

Not really other than that false reading of being low, reboot, then showing 2 bars.

I have the V3m from Verizon. If you don't use EVDO, switching to 1x all the time will save your battery. I just did this. The battery lasted more than two days. I'm charging now and leaving the phone overnight to see how long it'll lasts. Before I did the switch the battery lasts maybe 12 hours. You'll find posts on how to turn off EVDO here. I'll post later on how the battery does after the switch.

I also did this with the Lg Phones and the batteries lasted a lot longer. Lg Vx8000.
