What happened to my Moto V3i?

well i just recieved my Moto v3i in the mail, and i put the battery and the memory card in and the SIM card. And i plug it in an outlet, and it says battery invalid and it makes this really wierd noise, like a loud screeching noise from the speakerphone. I just got it today, and it's from ebay. And when i start it up, the screen shows the white screen of death. What's wrong? Well on the package i recieved it in said damaged, but there wuz just a dent in the package, I think the phone was fine. Unless the package was dropped, could that of killed the phone? thanks

is it too late to get a refund from the ebay seller? some good sellers will give refund for defective items if not stated in the ad. hurry and check.
