hi, im so desperated, my 902t from toshiba has a little problem that really bugs me. I just took off the simcard and when i put it back i got a little problem. now everytime i press on the menu button, a dialog opens and says "setting information downloaded from network. start retrieval NW informations?" IF I PRESS YES, it says cannot perform due to network failure, but if i press no its fine. But everytime i wanna open the menu it asks me the same question and it becomes really annoying. can somebody please help me!!!
thanks sso much!

You need to power the phone up with a different sim card, power that down, and then go back to your original SIM card.

Hi, thanks for your reply, i did what you told me and it worked so now im really happy!! So i have another question concerning that thing too...i have a 802n from NEC, it also displays the same problem but even worst, it cannot enter the menu or use any other options, basically that phone because totally unusable since i "played" with the simcard by switching them...
i was wondering if u know how to make it work normally again...i cannot see my pictures and datas anymore so that sucks...
thanks!

Is the 802N unlocked?
Posted by: poulet16bits
mmm its a thing im not sure if its unlcoked or not but i dont think so, because i have never done any unlocking and nobody has even done it before, and ive see on the internet any people saying NEC phones are unlockable...
But on some good website it says thats a GSM phone too, so basically it should be unlockable to be able to use it elsewhere than in Japan.
But anyways, i dont need to use that phone to talk. all i really want is t be able to "Play" with the phone again, see my pictures, watch my video clips and read my old mails....all my memories of Japan are in there. I know its possible to get them back but i dont know how to do...ive been tryin for 1 year now, still nobody could do it.

Get a canceled Vodafone USIM and put it in the phone. Then it will work again.

are u sure itll work???
Posted by: yangj08
Yes- that's how people are using their sharp 904s and 705s even though they're not unlocked (unless there's another method).

im pretty sure the 802n is NOT unlockable.
the other way to solve the problem you had is to do a master reset.
Posted by: Junglizt1210
no they're all locked to Vodafone afaik.
Posted by: poulet16bits
how can u master reset when u can even open menu ?
Posted by: yangj08
How did you "play" with the phone before? Did you use a Vodafone USIM in the phone to open up the menus?
Posted by: poulet16bits
i only put a fido usim and then when i put back the vodafone, i coudlnt do anything else...
Posted by: yangj08
Wait- it worked with the FIDO USIM? That means that you've got an unlocked phone. On the other hand, if you mean that it stopped working when you tried the Fido card, then I don't know. Are you using a Japanese Vodafone card? Only Japanese ones will work if it's locked.

with the fido usim, there was no connection available but i could play with the phone, enter the menu and take pictures. It stopped working when i put back its original vodafone usim. And yes it was a japanese vodafone usim, its original. Its still a mystery!
Posted by: yangj08
Well- you phone was unlocked then, which is a mystery because I thought that the 802N couldn't be used with non-Vodafone USIMs.
Posted by: poulet16bits
i doubt it...
because many "pros" told me that phone is just unlockable.
second thing is, the phone could be used with a fido usim inside, but you couldnt talk....just play with the menu. But now that its totally not working, if i put back a fido usim....it doesnt work anymore. Some guy told me that it might have happened that when u put another usim inside, its gonna be totally locked for security reasons......
