V3m Startup & Shutdown graphics: Bitpim or P2k?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

want to change the startup and shutdown graphics on my Razr V3m. So far, I thought I could use Bitpim (because I used Bitpim to change the outside LCD .gif image) to get wallpaper data, put the graphics I want in (but change them to "customer_startup" and "customer_shutdown" like the originals), then transfer the data back to the phone, but so far nothing is working.

Is there a way to use Bitpim, or do I have to use P2k?

You can use BitPim. Here are the 2 links I used to change the SU/SD Animations and Sounds

Animations: http://www.motov3m.com/tiki-index.php?page=CustomAnim

Sounds: http://www.motov3m.com/tiki-index.php?page=CustomSound

Good luck.

Wow! That was easier than I thought! Thanks a lot!

Now the real question is: why couldn't Verizon make something like this an easier thing to do (instead of hacking and whatnot)

Thats the easy part, haha. Its the same thing that drives all their decisions to block this phone... $$$. The more they dont let you do, the more you must buy from them. You will see it is a recurring theme

Does anyone have the content of the above links somewhere else?

I'm having trouble after searching to find how to replace the external .gif and the startup/shutdown animations, using Bitpim only - no seem edits.

nevermind. Found what I needed on hacktherazr.com

Just thought I'd note that you may have problems using BitPim to write anything to the a/motorola/shared/picture/ directory if you have a later V3m. The first batch of V3m's was fine, but on the rest of them Verizon put a lock in the flex so you can't use BitPim to write to those directories. If it turns out your phone is one of these ones you'll have to use P2KCommander.

the phone is brand new, 2 weeks.

I've noticed the error bitpim gives about "your provider locked the phone" or something with ringtones, but as far as pictures and the outside lcd/startup/shutdown animations, i was able to overwrite them easily.
