... to change over to a GSM phone, rather sticking with my current Nextel phone?

I favor Nextel in that:
1) Reception is awesome
2) Nationwide Direct Connect

..... that's all I can think of.

i got more hits in the Nextel forum for this thread than here. Seems like no one wants to support thier GSM phones.

perhaps same reason why apple owners tend to be more hardcore than pc owners?

Chaching,

You ask such a generic question that has no "one size fits all" answer. You need to choose a phone based on what your needs are. I know in my area that quite a few small businesses/contractors use Nextel for the walkie talkie feature to contact their office or other employees. I do hear complaints about coverage from many of them in this area but the price is right so they stick with it. Personally, I am not loyal to any particular format, I have active lines on GSM, TDMA, and CDMA. The reason I migrated to GSM is that AT&T offered the coverage I need in the areas I travel, since 90% of my calls are long distance and during the day I need a plan that allowed substantial peak minutes. I had no need for walkie talkie features as most that I call are not on nextel. I get unlimited usage on AT&T for $99 per month. Last month I used over 3000 minutes so it works out to 3 cents a minute for me including long distance. For me this is the best service in my situation. No one service is perfect for everyone. If you go the Nextel forum and get 100 posts why Nextel is best, I would take them with a grain of salt, as many may be more fanatic than logical.

...and who said Apple is better, didn't the courts just rule that Billy Gates empire is the best hehe

That's certainly not the case at all.

1) You've asked the question in the Panasonic forum. No disrespect to the Panasonic forum folks, but it's not the most crowded board on Hofo.

2) It's an age old question which has been asked many times, and people are probably to tired to type out an answer again. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with asking it, hell I answered it twice.

I'd try posting your question in one of the more crowded GSM forums, like T-Mobile and maybe you'll get more responses.

Larry
