How many here use Microsoft Voice Command on their smartphone?

Posted by: Ishimaru

Where is there a version for SP? I only see PPC.

Posted by: Death_Dealer

It is not officially released but few people do have it.

Posted by: rapidnet_rick

I use it. For me it works better over bluetooth. Figure that out?!

Posted by: Death_Dealer

what bluetooth handset, and do you press the bluetooth headset button to activate it?

Posted by: briboynyc

I use it and for the most part it works just like the PPC version. Downside is you can't reassign the voice tag button to work as voice command. If anyone knows of a hack to reassign hard buttons that would be great. Can you make the call announcement louder...I dont hear the incoming call information.
Curious to know how you're able to use bluetooth to launch voice command. Did you have to hack the registry?
I have the qtek 8500 running an imate ROM and voice command works well considering MS never released this program.

Posted by: mensrea

where can you get it?

I think people are nervous to post links or send the program to others since it's a Microsoft product and because its never been released. Trust me....if you search for it on the internet you will find it...it may take time but its out there. I was told the same thing...I kept looking and I found it.

Many Thanks to a fellow member!
Now I just have to free up enough space on the internal memory lol
Is there a way to redistribute internal memory on the smt5600 as there is on a pocketpc?

Posted by: DanITman

Can I get a PM on this specific issue. Much appreciated.

Posted by: DereX888

anyone *dare* to post a link to Msoft Voice Commands download?
I'd be happy to try it out as well
(not that I'm complaining about smARTspeak I'm currently using, but its always good to know what else is out there )

Posted by: spartanrob

anyone have it and can PM it? I've done everything BengleBoy said, i just need VC. I own a copy for my PPC but it won't work with a smartphone

Posted by: gryph0n

Honestly I have used it in the past, and it is a memory drainer. I get along fine with the built in voice app. Only phones I could see getting any use of it would be something like an MPx220, but then you would be giving up precious memory. Even with that their voice program is effective enough, and it won't help any with the BT voice dial issues if that is what you are all looking for. To each is own I guess. Keep in mind that there is a reason that MS didn't release it for SP, and one of the main reasons was the affect it had on the phones general preformance, it will process the hell out of your resources in CP talk...

Posted by: austerville

I'd appreciate a PM of where I can get a copy for my phone. I have the PPC version on my 8125 and would really like to give it a try on my 3125. Thanks.

Posted by: Death_Dealer

umm, I found it at rapidshare.de/files/33701603/Microsoft_Voice_Command_1.5.rar.html so try it out

Posted by: Death_Dealer

umm here is more info

UK one rapidshare.de/files/33701603/Microsoft_Voice_Command_1.5.rar.html
uUS one rapidshare.de/files/33720955/VoiceCommand_SmartPhone_Setup.zip.html

Posted by: DanITman

Awesome, Thanks

I have been looking all over for these.

Posted by: Death_Dealer

yeah I cant believe I paid a scumbag here to get me Microsoft voice dial which was the UK version, ahh well, he is probably poor.

Posted by: Death_Dealer

well if you were able to install the program sucessfully, please come back and post your review.

Posted by: austerville

I was able to install voicecommand and just did a few basic tests to make sure that it worked - so far so good. What I'm trying to do now is to assign the voicecommand to the "voice" button on the phone. I'm following the instructions from this link, but I'm running into some problems viz I can't find a file called voicesignal.exe in the windows folder. Does anyone know where to find this file - or can tell me which file I need to replace with voicecommand.exe. Once I've got that done I'll do some test with voicecommand and will report my findings here. Thanks.

Posted by: austerville

Ok, I just tried a full test and ran into problems. I issue the command "Call Home" - the phone recognises the contact and repeats what I said (it's waiting for confirmation) - I say "yes". At that point it's supposed to dial the the location, but instead the phone just hangs (with the microphone still on the screen, waiting for me to say "something"). The only way that I can continue is to do a soft reset. I'm using the US version of MS VoiceCommand. Has anyone else had better luck?

Posted by: Death_Dealer

yeah seems like others are having the same issues with 3125, there is currently no work around.

Posted by: gryph0n

The UK version works all around with me, as it is supposed to, but as I thought it would be, it is a memory drainer.

Posted by: Death_Dealer

any updates from users using the program.

thanks

Posted by: RonAnnArbor

Just note that it does not work with WM5 smartphone edition - only WM2003...it won't work on the Cingular 2125 or the Cingular 3125 for example...

Posted by: dwest218

Umm,, works great on my Qtek 8300. And have been using it for a couple weeks without problems. I bought my wife a Cingular 3125 and had all kinds of weird problems. I don't know why because they are both WM5 but it seems as if the 3125 has newer AKU2 which incorporates some small but needed changes. For ex. scrolling while reading my messages is much quicker know. I think the Calendar plugin on the Home page was also improved.

Posted by: gacajun

I have the UK version and it works fine on my 3125. I also mapped the app to my external camera button. Edit the short_camera.lnk and put the information in the Voice Command.lnk into the short_camera.lnk and save the file in the Windows directory. Make sure that the number in the short_camera.lnk file is the first number in the saved version of the file.

Don't know if it makes any difference but I did app unlock my phone before installing the program.

Posted by: gryph0n

It seems that the phone needs to be app unlocked inorder for it to actually dial out for some reason.

you might be onto something there

Posted by: encece

I used the app on my SP5m with no problems except...
...when I attempt to dial then cancel the call (by just not saying anything)....the app errors out. (I have error reporting turned on).
...my sounds have sped up slightly. Even after restarts. When I uninstalled...they went back to normal.

That's been my hunch, but I never got a chance to actually try to confirm it. Did you initially run the unlock application, then do the install, or did you install first, find out that it didn't work, then run the unlock application to see whether it corrects the problem?

In my case I ran the app unlock application before installing the voice app.

Posted by: austerville

Ok, I just confirmed that the application lock on this phone prevents voice command from dialling out. In order to resolve this problem do the following:
1. Download the application unlock program from here and run it on your pc while you have your phone connected to your pc with activesync.
2. Install MS Voice.

That's about it. I setup MS Voice to use the "Record" button. This enables me to use MS Voice by pressing and holding the voice dial button (it's the shorter button on the left hand side of the phone).
I've only done a few test calls with it and so far it works great. I don't have my BT headset with me so I haven't been able to test whether it works with the headset.

anyone using the regedit hack to launch Voice command by holding your bluetooth headset button.

thanks

Posted by: conan_troutman

not that I want this thread closing down for use of unsolicited material but can anyone tell me if this program is the much touted beta or is it publiclly available and if so could you direct me to it please if its not publically available then my bad sorry for the interuption

I'm not aware of that hack, but I'll be glad to give it a try if you point me to the details.

edit. If you're referring to this hack it only works with PPC, not smartphone.
I readsomewhere about renaming the voicecommand.exe file to a different name (one that's currently triggered by pressing the BT button), but I couldn't find the filename that they referenced so I couldn't get it to work. I'll keep looking though...

Posted by: claudeh

Look at this quote:

So I fire up VC on the Q from the start menu and low and behold it talks to me. AMAZING! (But the best is yet to come.)

Without hacking the registry the Q has no way to remap buttons. Voice command wants to be on the "recorder" button but the Q doesn't have one.

So I took it one step further. The Q DOES have a button to activate the junky, crappy, horrible VoiceSignal (did I mention what a POS this software is?) So I grabbed a copy of voicecommand.exe, renamed it voicesignal.exe and overwrote the existing voicesignal.exe in the \Windows folder. Of course, I was warned I was overwriting a file in ROM. Goodbye and good riddance!

The above has to performed on the phone and can't be done through Explorer via ActiveSync since it won't let you overwrite a ROM file. So I used Resco Explorer and I'm sure TotalCommander works as well.

Well, voila! Press the VoiceSignal button on the phone and VoiceCommand SPEAKS. (But wait, the best is yet to come.)

I fire up my trusty Bluetooth headset knowing that this wouldn't work. I pressed the button and OMG!!!!! VoiceCommand through bluetooth! Used to be you had to hack the daylights out of your registry, add DLLs, etc. to accomplish that. One little exe overwrite and I'm in heaven!

ENDQuote.

Now the 3125 does not use Vice Signal, right? But maybe someone can figure out the name of the executable that is invoked when one activates the voice tag program, native to the 3125.
Hope this helps.

Claude H.

Posted by: austerville

That's the post that I was referring to - where I renamed voicecmd.exe to something else (it was voicesignal), but then I couldn't find the voicesignal file in the Windows directory so there was nothing to replace. Your suggestion was exactly what I had planned to do, but now my BT headset doesn't do anything when I press the button, so that ruined that great idea - at least for me. Maybe someone more knowledgable than I am has a better way of finding out.

Posted by: Death_Dealer

I think it will be more to do with registry, I am going to spend some time comparing the registry between the motorola q and 3125 to see the differences.

thanks

Posted by: conan_troutman

I have tried it and the onlypart I have trouble with is the calander no matter what I ask it it never responds nor does it announce them whne they arrive and trhe other small problem is it does not anounce incoming calls either

running on an qtek 8310 any suggestions

Posted by: austerville

No problems with either of those functions on my 3125. So far everything works, except dialling from my BT headset

Posted by: Death_Dealer

here is a suggestion, could someone try importing the bluetooth registry from moto q to 3125 and see if that will work.

Posted by: conan_troutman

well with some messing about I now get the responce to my calendar requests of having nothing scheduled this dispite the fact the whole day is booked sold with test appointments and odd jobs around the house

Posted by: Death_Dealer

could someone upload bluetooth registry entries from moto q please.

thanks

Posted by: iJITSU

FYI- I could never get VC to work with my 2125. I though I had app unlocked it but apparently not. I have a 3125 now and after app unlocking it VC works fine.

If you tell me what to do I'll be glad to help out. I'd really like to get VC working with my BT headset.

Posted by: Death_Dealer

well I am still waiting for a 3125, cant find a seller willing to ship it to Canada, I am looking for bluetooth registry data from moto q. I am going to try loading those settings on 3125 and it should work.

Posted by: Himself

Gotta admit i am loving VC on my SMT5600 so far, only to exceptions are that it is a resource hog, and I can only seem to use with the * button. Which, as you can understand, interferes with Solitaire, and changing case while texting.

Posted by: Death_Dealer

another suggestion is to install fonix voice dial, then edit the registry entry it creates or rename the voicecommand file to fonix dial file, throwing some ideas out there.

thanks

I was quietly informed that there is a beta 1.6 version of voice command that's improved to work with bluetooth flawless. No word on when it will be available but still it is good news for smartphone users. I wish I had a copy to test with.

yeah but there is no way currently to intiate voice command from bluetooth.

Use this program to initiate MS Voice Command through the button on your bluetooth headset. I use it and it works great. There is a trial so you can try it out first.

could u please explain the program, how it intergrates with microsoft voice command, is the bluetooth headset on all the time? please give us your feedback.

thank you

It is a plugin, for lack of a better term, that allows me to activate MSVC with the button on my Motorola H700. This headset is the type with a folding boom mic that is off when it is folded and on when it is open....so it is not always on. It connects to the phone when you open it. Once it connects, all I have to do is hit the button and voice command prompts me to speak. I think the program is desinged for headsets that have a display on them, but it works for dialing with voice command which is all I really need or care about.

YES!!! It works. MS VC SP 1.5 (UK) + Jetware Mobile Smartphone = 3125 best smartphone in existence. Can do independent voice dialing over BT. Love it!! Thanks for pointing it out.

Just registered with Jetware Mobile.

i guess you should wait till ms vc 1.6 comes out too see if it will work.

Posted by: mobilehavoc

Is it just me (could be) or is the MS VC sound and lady's voice extremely quiet over BT? I can't find a way to increase her voice and the prompt sound. It's very hard to hear unless there's no noise around me...

Not sure if this is an issue with Jetwaremobile, MS VC or my headset? I have a HS850.

It's loud on phone calls and in general - can't find a reg key to increase her volume either.

Posted by: john1027

I have been following the thread for awhile and finally took the plunge today as VC was the only thing I really missed from PPC. I initially installed the UK version but the dial-a- number feature didn't work well, as others have pointed out. Uninstalled and reinstalled the US version and that works fine now. With the Jetware Mobile software installed, the VC over BT function works very well with the Samsung WEP 200. I've had the WEP 200 for about a week, and it works great with the 3125. I previously used the Moto H700 and while they were good, the WEP 200s are better, IMO. There is a lot of information about them (mostly postive) under the Bluetooth Forum here at HF.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread. It is this kind of thread that makes this site a tremendous resource.

Ok, so I am very confused. Can i download microsoft voice command and the afformentioned software and use VC thru my headset like i did with my PPC? Where do i download these things, i was under the impression that VC didn't work with the 3125..

VC for smartphone (will work on the 3125) was never officially released, but like many other betas, this was leaked on the internet. There is no official way to get it, but it is on the internet. The program to use it through a headset is linked to above.

I have it set to the "record" button, but I can't seem to actually get it to work that way. I tried just pressing the button and that launched the voice dial app, but holding the button down did nothing.

Posted by: node8

UK version voice dialing just requires the country code when dialing to work properly:

Say "plus one" followed by the Area Code and 7 Digit Number

+1 (999) 999-9999

Bump...any feedback on this? I tried a H700 headset too and the UK lady is still way too quiet - even with the volume on the headset all the way up, system sound all the way up, etc.. Is the US version louder? Maybe I should try that one?

Thanks for the link kdogg, very useful app!
It sends all sound to my plantronics 320 with no issues it seems, even the audio when I want to watch a movie, this saves me from loading up Bluetunes. And when I get a call, VC announces it right through my headset, instead of through the cell which is also a bonus. Only problem so far is I haven't been able to actually use VC through my headset on my smt5600 without having to setup a voice dial shortcut to it. So essentially I have to use a voice command to get to the voice command so I can use voice command through my 320. Another thing is that VC seems to respond alot better when used through the headset.

Is the VC voice loud enough for you? I can barely hear the voice on my HS850 with my 3125 and Jetware. Not sure if it's a setting or something I'm just missing.

Posted by: austerville

I used it in my car this morning to do some basic tests (check time, check schedule and call voicemail) and I had no problems hearing what was said. I'm using the US version.

Posted by: mobilehavoc

Strange. Installed the US version and it's still very quiet!!

The problem is probably something to do with the headset profile since that is what the phone changes to when you connect the BT headset to it.

However, I have everything in the headset profile set to Loud and it's still way too quiet.

@Austerville, can you take a look at your headset profile and post your settings?

I know in PPC MS VC there was reg key that let you make her louder...not sure if there's one for this version but nothing obvious that I can see.

This is really the last thing holding me up.

Posted by: mobilehavoc

Well for those that want it, here are the reg keys to make MS VC louder on your phone. The Attenuation one makes the voice louder than the ringtone and not sure what the InitVol does.

This still doesn't make it louder over the BT headset though...DAMMM IT!

Quote:
Took long time to search, here it is.
When you upgrade to WM5, MS voice command sound during announcing a call will be very low ( Imate Jaz Jar).

In order to increase the volume , navigate to HKCU\Control Pannel\SoundCategories\VoiceCommand1 Then change the value of AttenuationCategory from 4 to 1

Sound of the voice command will be even higher than the ringing tone.
You can also change the value of InitVol to 40.

Posted by: conan_troutman

I noticed while making the changes to the setting you recomend that there is no dword setting for Speaker = 1

as there is for reminders and alarms and other sounds that eminate from the loud speaker would it be advise able to add this to make it louder or not?

Posted by: mobilehavoc

Good find. I just added it and rebooted. Can't tell for sure if it's coming out of the speaker...it's definitely not that much louder.

Edit: just did some more testing and it does in fact come over the speakerphone now...problem is it's still too damm quiet. It's like the whole MS VC system is on low volume and you need to somehow go into MSVC and turn up the volume.

Posted by: mobilehavoc

Ok I am officially the biggest idiot today...turns out the handset has a separate "earpiece" volume that does not sync with the BT headset as my previous phones.

So all I had to do ALL THIS TIME was while the BT headset is connected hit the volume up button on the phone!!!!!

AARRGGH. So stupid. Anyway, now it works great..it's super duper loud and I now officially love this phone! WOOHOOO!

Posted by: gacajun

Posted by: mobilehavoc

You have no idea how annoyed I am...all that time wasted on something so simple. I guess it wasn't intuitive for me...usually most phones I've used when not in a call pressing the volume buttons controls the ringer not the earpiece.

And who the hell figures the earpiece volume effects MSVC over the phone's speaker AND over BT??

In the end though - still feel stupid but hey it works great now.

That Speaker = 1 DWORD is key too so add that if you haven't already..routes all MSVC sound over the external speaker so you can hear clearly with the flip closed (works great for announce callers).

Glad I could help, I'm happy everyone is finding this little app useful.

Posted by: claudeh

Good day,

I have the US version of VC 1.5 for SP loaded on my better half's 3125.

I have installed the Jetware 1.11 trial and I am now able to activate VC via BT. In order to get VC to respond I need to push my BT send\end button twice (just like I have to do it with my 8125).

This is a good thing

The VC for SP exe size I have is 2,868 kb

What truly s*ucks however is VC's accuracy on the 3125. I have tried every possible volume adjustment on both the phone and BT headset and VC gets it wrong more often than right. I even tried to say "Dial 555-555-1234" and it repeatedly gets it wrong.

I have used a Voyager 510 and Jabra BT250 with the same poor results. As a comparison VC on my 8125 is a pleasure to use and most accurate via BT.

Anyone have similar experiences and\or suggestions.

As it stands this is unusable on the 3125

Claude H.

Posted by: Death_Dealer

you positive you have the us version installed not the uk version

Posted by: austerville

I don't have the same problem with accuracy - it works correctly about 99% of the time. I should mention though that there was one day where it just got EVERYTHING wrong and almost drove me nuts, but once I turned off the phone it went right back to working correctly again.

Posted by: claudeh

I have deinstalled\reinstalled VC for SP U.S file ver 1.50 1.50.4333.1
Accuracy via BT is awful.

Claude H.

Posted by: austerville

After my raving about the accuracy I had a problem yesterday while driving where it got the name wrong 5 times before it finally got it right. That was not good

Posted by: claudeh

I just removed the US version, installed the UK version and there is a WORLD of difference now. Accuracy on par with VC for PPC on my 8125.

Now can someone answer me this:
If I dial someone by choosing him or her from my contact list, Caller ID displays my cell phone on the recipients phone display.
If I dial the number via the 3125 keypad or initiate a call via VC, the recipient’s display shows “caller unknown”.

What is that all about and how can I get caller ID to display when using VC?

Thanks,

Claude H.

What is that all about and how can I get caller ID to display when using VC?

Thanks,

Claude H.

I just tried dialling my office phone, first from the contact list and then using VC. My callerid info showed up in both cases. I'm using the US version of VC.

Posted by: claudeh

Thanks, must be a setting somewhere I overlooked that causes caller ID to behave the way it does.

Can someone tell me the file size of the setup file for MS VC 1.5 for SP U.S. version also the version number under properties by right clicking on the setup.exe file. Mine is ver. 1.50.4333.1 - size 2868 kb

Thanks,

Claude H.

Posted by: john1027

2.79 MB (2,935,963 bytes)

1.50.4333.1 (version)

I used VC since it was available in PPC and always found it very accurate and stable. As many have posted, it is less stable in the smartphone version and somedays it seems to work better than others. We can' forget that we hacked this onto the device, and MS never released this officially for a reason. The instability and bugs we sometimes see are probably some of the reasons. I guess we can only hope that the rumor is true concerning a 1.6 version being released at some point that supports the smartphone platforms. For me, working most of the time is better than not having it at all since I have a daily need of calling up numbers from my contact list that I just intermittently call - way to many to use the built-in voice dialer and programming them in.

Anyone want to send a reg number via PM for Jetware?

Anyone?

Bueller?

Posted by: TruBlu01

Aftre my phone rings, I can hear the UK lady very faintly saying the incoming number. Is this norm. What do I choose so there is no ringtone and only her voice? A little louder though.

Posted by: mobilehavoc

WTF?

It's based off your phone's IMEI code...stop trying to get sh*t for free and pay for it...it's because people like you that we don't have more programs like Jetware available.

Geez..

Posted by: TruBlu01

Yep, People like me. And then there are people like you.

Posted by: mobilehavoc

Yes who pay for software they use so that the developers can earn a living, continue making it better and come out with new products.

I'm so ashamed of myself.

I should follow your example and ask for regcodes/serial #s for a licensed product on an open forum...

Posted by: claudeh

Thanks John, that is the one I have as well.

I have to repeat my experience, this is totally unusable on my 3125, either by BT or direct in the phone, VC 1.5 U.S. is totally inaccurate, the U.K. version's performance seems more in keeping with what I have been experiencing with my U.S. version for my 8125. I do not understand why this should be this way. Maybe I should omap overclock this thing.

VT,

Claude H

Posted by: Death_Dealer

Yeah it is safe to say that I will gladly pay for vc 1.6 if microsoft choose to release it.

Anyways I am still hearing around one month frame time for vc 1.6, also it was mentioned that a strip down version of voice command might be included with auk3. Also so far the beta 1.6 performs better then 1.5 and has native bluetooth support.

thanks

Posted by: john1027

Thanks for the info Vic. I've never understood why MS hasn't devoted more attention to this product. On PPC it works very well, as you know, but still could use a little tweaking and an update. On the smatphone platform there has to be a good sized base of potential customers. With the success of the Q, the 3125 (most likely), the HTC 620, and the new Samsung releases there should be further incentive to develop the program (at least we can hope there is).

Posted by: conan_troutman

ok so how long does the trial last for JetBTHFExt not that I am asking for a code but I dont see the point in buying it if as you say 1.6 may be released soon and it has native BT support just seems a waste of cash to me.

hopefully as you say 1.6 will be on sale for me to buy and that would seem worth the cash

Posted by: austerville

The trial is for 30 days

Posted by: TruBlu01

Here is a little update on VC 1.6
What's New:
-Bluetooth handsfree support (requires a phone with the Microsoft Bluetooth stack)
-Acoustic models optimized for 8kHz and bluetooth audio
-Spoken incoming email notifications
-Bluetooth notification routing
-Smartphone retail support
-Performance improvements

Still waiting to hear on a release date.

(((Update)))
"Looks like it's pretty close to release"

Posted by: austerville

Do you have a link for the VC 1.6 info?

Posted by: TruBlu01

No, this is from "Inside Information"

Posted by: austerville

Thanks. Guess I'll just keep checking here and get the updates from you

Posted by: TruBlu01

I'll do what I can!

Posted by: mobilehavoc

Looking forward to 1.6. Although MS VC SP 1.5 UK with Jetware Mobile works pretty damm well. For some reason UK version works better than US version for me.

This is a great stopgap measure until 1.6 releases...features look good.

Posted by: austerville

I agree that it works fine with Jetware Mobile, except for the occasions where it goes crazy on me and doesn't recognise what I've said. I hope that 1.6 comes out within the next month so that I won't have to purchase both the Jetware and VC. I'd rather just purchase VC 1.6. Guess we'll just have to wait and see...

Posted by: robhs

I called Microsoft and asked if there was a compatable Voice Command software package for the 3125. They said that Voice command was part of WM2005, and that it had to be enabled by Cingular. I called Cingular tech support, and they said they did not support it. I don't know what to think about this - except that it is frustrating.

Are you using UK or US? If you're using US, def give UK a shot. Doesn't make sense why but the UK version is much better at recognition esp over BT. Since switching to UK, it hasn't missed once even with ambient noise! In fact, it's better than MS VC PPC 1.5 on my 8125!!

Posted by: austerville

Will I need to change my contacts to add the +1 if I use the UK version?

Posted by: mobilehavoc

No I don't believe it applies for contacts..I have dialed numbers that don't even have a 1 in front of them at all. i.e. 2125551212 using the UK version with no issue.

I think someone did say however that you when digit dialing you have to say "plus one" first before the rest of the number. Haven't tried that because it usually takes me less time to dial the # on a phone like the 3125 then speak it out.

But to answer your question - you don't have to edit your contacts at all.

Posted by: Death_Dealer

Please do not pm me asking for Microsoft Voice Command 1.6 as I don't have it, even if I did, I don't think it is wise to release since Microsoft is officially releasing it for Windows smartphone. Don't pm me with requests, bug Microsoft or someone else.

thank you

I found this great forum months ago and I read it constantly and you guys are great. I have been able to find most solutions just reading your comments. Now I am stuck, just downloaded the US version of MS Voicecommand for smartphone and I got it to work with the Motorola HS850 by pressing the button twice. My problem is that I cannot hear the commands thru the headset, only thru the phone speaker. Is there any reg hack that will turn this fuction on.

Posted by: Death_Dealer

read this thread again, you need to get another program, jetware, mentioned previously in this thread.

I did install jetware, and I also followed the instruction on bengalboy web site http://www.bengalboy.com/modules/ne...der=ASC&start=0

I can initate voice command, I just can't hear the lady thru the headset only the phone speaker

Posted by: austerville

I don't have the time to check right now, but I'm pretty sure that someone had this same problem a few pages back and the solution was to turn up the volume control while using the headset. Let me know if that doesn't work.

If you press the button on your BT headset more than once too quickly that will happen.

i.e. You press it once and it initiates Voice Command and if you press the BT headset button again it closes the BT audio gateway so Voice Command comes over the phone's speaker.

Press the button and be patient - wait about 3-5 seconds. If you're BT headset is initiating Voice Command then Jetware is working.

Thanks mobilehavoc, I tried your suggestion and you are were right about pressing the button once, it does initiate Voice Command and I do hear some slight hissing sound from the headset but the commands are still coming out the phone speaker. Perhaps I should have mention that I am trying to do this on a Motorola MPX220 for the wife.

Posted by: conan_troutman

have you ticked the box in jetaware settings to allow voice command via BT ?

Posted by: Krypton217

Yes the box is checked to turn on Bluetooth, in addition in advance options i have the box checked to to use voice dialing.

I can't seem to find how to stop jetware from sending the ringtone straight through to my headset, meaning that if I do not have my earpiece connected to my melon, I don't realize I am receiving a call and therefore miss it. Is there a setting I am missing or disregarding>?
Thanks

I also had this issue but now I don't have a bluetooth headset so I don't really have to worry about it.

Posted by: TruBlu01

I think that is normal. Set phone to Vibe+Ring or keep the headset attached to your Melon

There is another thread on MSVC in the PPC forum. The contributor posted that he saw a release date for 1.6 of 12/16/06 according to this MS site:

http://support.microsoft.com/lifecy...10&y=9&p1=12087

At least we now have seen something in writing in the public domain from MS.

It's all good, I just un-checked the "Caller-ID" option in the Features menu and BAM!

Did you application unlock your phone? If not, you'll get the error where it freezes when trying to dial a number. If you need the application unlock software, send me a PM.

Has anyone used MS Voice Command with this phone and a Motorola H700 headset? My HS850 isn't working very well and I was thinking of replacing it with an H700, but I know that there were problems with VC and the H700 in the 8125, so just wanted to make sure that there were no issues with this combination on the 3125. Thanks

I am using an H700 and it works great with VC/Jetware.

Posted by: john1027

Used the H700 with no problems in the 3125 and previous to that in the S200 also without problem. One of the benefits to the H700 is that it charges with the usb mini and I can charge it on the same charger my wife uses for her Razr. One less charger when we travel. I recently picked up a WEP 700 from a friend who sells them at a small shop a/p shop. They work very well also and are quite light and small. I prefer the 200s. As with the whole MS VC set-up, there is always the occaisional glitch and once in awhile the single press on the BT doesn't bring up the VC prompt/tone, but most times it works fine. If you do look at the 200s and go that way, buy some Jabra ear pieces for them as the OEM system does not hold in your ear too well. There is a lot more info on the WEP 200s in the BT forum here at HoFo.

Posted by: austerville

Thanks for the feedback guys. I feel more comfortable ordering the H700 now.

Posted by: hylton

Interesting piece of info on Microsoft's site...not sure if this has been posted before, I hadn't seen it anywhere else, found it searching around on Google.

http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/?p1=12087

Looks like mid-December is the date, we'll see...it would be nice to have an updated and legal version out there for those of us w/ phones that only have voice tag capability.

Can't wait !

Help! I followed the instructions above very carefully but when I go to install the kit referenced

rapidshare.de/files/33701603/Microsoft_Voice_Command_1.5.rar.html

On my cingular 3125 after unlocking it I get the error message
"setup is not a valid windows CE application"

Note: I unpacked the above file using WinRAR and then copied the setup.exe to my smartphone.

Did I do something wrong?

thanks!

You run the Set up file from your PC with your phone connected.

I have seen about a half dozen posts here and elsewhere where the writer has not been able to get it working properly. In a couple cases it has screwed up the joggr functions. I was going to try but after reading what I have, opted to wait until the hopefully Dec. release of the new revision. In the meantime, maybe someone more techical savvy than me will figure it out.

Posted by: lamb_chops

Hi,

thanks for the help with installing voice command (feeling a little dumb)

I'm loving my 3125 with VC and an H700 headset however, I was wondering if anyone knows why you have to press the button on the headset twice to get VC to answer.

Also, the woman's voice is a little low, I can't figure out how to bump it up. I saw the suggestion...

navigate to HKCU\Control Pannel\SoundCategories\VoiceCommand1 Then change the value of AttenuationCategory from 4 to 1

but I can't figure out how to do this? Do I need to download a tool to edit the smart phone's registry?

Thanks!

Posted by: lamb_chops

Hi,

I just noticed a problem with the MS VC SP 1.5 (UK) + Jetware + Cingular 3125. If I have the Jetware software running and my bluetooth headset (H700) closed/off when a call comes in I have noticed that opening up the BT headset and putting it on does not answer the phone (like it does correctly when the Jetware is not running). After opening the headset and pressing the center key multiple times I occasionally get connected but more often than not I am not able to get connected before the call goes to VM. Even more troubling is the fact that after this happens my link to the headset seems to be completly hosed (i.e. I can not make any outgoing calls using the head set even if I dial the calls manuall from the phone). I can restablish connectivity by going into Jetware and turning the bluetooth connection off then on again and everything seems to work until the next time a call comes in when I have my headset off.

I have figured out that I can avoid this problem if I answer the phone manually (without the headset first) then once the call is established if I open the headset and put it on I am able to transition to the headset without a problem).

Has anyone else seen this problem with the 3125 and the Jetware software. I am still VERY happy with the voice command search capability and I guess this is just the sort of hicup that one should anticipate but it is a little frustrating.

Warmly

Lamb_Chops.

Really don't want to deal w/ Handango unless I have to.

Is it going to be exclusive w/ them b/c of the arrangement they have w/ MS now ?

FYI...I just downloaded it and tested on a 3125 - it ACTUALLY seems to work! Holy cow. And it works everytime you press the BT headset button on my H700 - don't have to repeat it.

Need to test some more but so far so good.

I also finally got a legit version of Samsung Wep 200 from ncix.com bought two fakes from ebay before then, will post a review later in week, I am coming from plantronic 3125, the plantronic in recent months developed a static issue, and it wont stay the way I want it too in my ear, so hopefully samsung does a lot better. Review later this week.

thank you

Please post your review, please post what headset you are using with your phone, what differences did you see between 1.5 and 1.6.

I am currently doing the install myself, getting rid of version 1.5 before I install 1.6 plus I needed to do other stuff.

thanks

Posted by: Himself

Did you guys purchase it, or is it available for "download" out there on the net now?

Posted by: rsbell

Anyone get this working with the Blackjack? I mean, I'm sure it will work, but I'm having trouble assigning a button to initiate Voice Command. The only options are "Record", "App1" through "App6", or none. I have no idea which App buttons are which...

Posted by: john1027

Works very well on the Blackjack. I haven't had the time to figure out the key assignment choices yet so fo the time being, I just assigned it to a speed dial. I'm using a WEP 200 and will work with that later and post the results. So far I think the accuracy is good, at least in a fairly quiet environment. Version 1.5 always worked well on my blue angel and jamin, and this seems at least as good.

I've got a day off tomorrow and will try it for you.

Posted by: Death_Dealer

Well here is my review so far on it, there is no way to assign it to the bluetooth headset by default so we would still need to use a reg hack on mpx220 or use jetware extension to get around it.

To Ebadger,

no worries of pirating but this should be a $9.95, instead of 39.95. And yes microsoft would have killed it long time ago if it wasn't for 60 series, so don't worry about it.

Better accuracy through bluetooth. 5% improvement.
Faster then version 1.5 just about 5%, nothing you would notice
Less memory, not much, it also does better when install on SD card.
Announces Calls when on call & text messages.

Cons:
Still no bluetooth support to initiate VC from bluetooth headset
No way to change the volume on notification except reg hack.
Routing to Bluetooth doesn't work at times.

Tip:

To install Voice Command 1.6 & get it to work properly with your bluetooth headset, after tons of testing, I found out you should have a bluetooth headset paired with your phone before install, vc 1.6 must be install to phone rather then SD card.

So I do have it working now, had to reinstall it to get it too work. I am happy with it, what more could I say

Posted by: jameskk

I purchased and downloaded from Handango today... NOTICE: to those planning to purchase from Handango.. make sure to download the Smartphone version and not the PPC version! I made this mistake first time and had to make two purchases (yes, I wanted it that bad). both product pages look almost identical and only way to tell them apart is under the compatible devices tab.

btw - It works great on the Dash and the Q and the new Cingular Blackjack!

Posted by: Death_Dealer

Please make sure your bluetooth headset is paired and you are in headset profile, then install microsoft vc 1.6, this will make sure it will install properly. Did you remove 1.5 and jetware first? Are you now using 1.6 and jetware? I'll install it tomorrow. What is the volume reg hack? Thanks

thanks -- it's hard to keep up with all these replies as they're all over the place as you know

I've seen a few others that said they got the Dash up and running without issue. I think Death Dealers posts about paring the BT device first is probably important. In my case, the s200 was already paired and seems to be working fine. I still think its amazing tht MS actually got this out in advance of the anticipated 12/15. Hopefully, they are better this time with updating the version as bugs are discovered.

yes I did uninstall everything, I actually did a hard reset, a clear reset also, still had the issue, so stick to the way I installed it to make sure it will work.
