okay, i need help with stuff, and this is a call to all the most experienced of modders, im new to the mod scene, like, literal newb....ummm but i bought a v635....as a b-day pres for myself last year...cost me a bundle on top of the fact that its on a 3 year term....now here's the thing...as of 3 days ago my network cut out, when i was putting mp3s on my phone, i dont know ifit was because of something i did wrong or not, but my network has been failing like crazy around my house and area ONLY..if i go downtown however my 5 bars come back, yet the network is still touchy as hell as to me moving my phone and the reception goes down a little...umm after reading rigorous amounts into this stuff on the internet i feel there's no easy cure for this...and as most canadians know, rogers(the phone company) is liable for screwing its customers over very well, with their crappy service...umm if anybody could please introduce me into all the modding stuff, and tell me maybe how to mod my phone to get my network strength back up id very much appreciate that...ive only had it for 8 months and id much rather knew what i was doing with this stuff than not....so if there's anyone out there with a kind heart please throw your knowledge down so i can feast on it a bit and fix my phone

thanks, chaos

I don't see how putting mp3's on your phone would affect network reception. Especially since you are still getting 5 bars in places. I had the same thing with our phones here in IL. Turns out they are integrating AT&T w Cingular, plus a tower went down near my house, so it found a tower farther away. So anytime we walked thru the house or sat down, it would drop call.

hi, a number of ideas for improving reception, you can upgrade the firmware on your phone to an upto date one. R474_G_08_48.6FR or higher, this one is the official and most stable flash. Another thing i've seen on ebay is a signal booster, a silver strip placed inside the battery compartment, to improve signal strength. But the first option is best.

Also different phones from different makes have varying characteristics for reception quality, call quality etc.

Use *#9999# to see what flash/flex is on your phone or use the menu from settings>phone status>other info (if available).
