Scary Phone Pricing Effective on 9/1

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Well... its never a good thing when your market launches new prices the day before the change.

We lost our media basic discounts on equipment.

Pink RAZRs and SLVRs will cost $20 more than their non-pink equilivants.

Cheapest phone will be the Nokia 6030 for $39.99 on 2 year contract.

Cheapest full price phone will be the Nokia 6030 for $189.99.

I wish all my fellow sales people in PNW good luck...

Ouch!! they are raising the prices again?

Over here there was no media basic discount and the cheapest phone we had, the 6030, is $170!

The $20 increase on the pink moto's, is that for no commitment price only?

The pink Motos is across the board $20 more... whether its activating or not.

It's like taking one step forward one month and then 3 steps back the next.

You can deact for $175 or pay $189.99 for the Nokia 6030... not really a hard choice for those who were churn risks...

I was off yesterday (31), was it announced then?

Cingular must be having some issues because they have been doing an awful lot lately to curb new adds and upgrades/migrations...

I noticed that too, odd.

Not sure if California is following suit, although I have a good feeling it may. Its basically a west thing right now... just like how we were the first with $18 migration charge. All the brillant ideas come from our region...

Im sure it might be company wide. The media bundle discounts make sense. Personally i hated having to explain why a phone was 20 dollars cheaper on the tag. Easier to explain, but im going to have to work harder to obtain my feature goal. Oh well.

As for increasing the prices of the pinks slvrs/razrs and the 6030 i do not agree. Just seems like big orange is taking advantage of the customers who want these colors. Then again most people who would want a pink phone usually will pay a little more to get it. Ill still go into work and do my best to sell them.

Wow... so its a PNW thing then... I was told it was a west region thing... any other markets see this??

Posted by: Freakshow105

my only concern is when the cheapest phone is more expencive than the early cancelation fee...i have had customers want to phantom churn because it is cheaper to do it that way

Prices haven't changedfor TN-KY markets.

let us not forget that if they still want cell service, ther will be an activation fee wherever they go, and they will still have to buy a new phone. Also your least expensive phone without a contract is a gophone! t290 for $60 activated then just pop their sim in there

I'm not going to waste a gophone on someone that's not eligible for an upgrade, just so they can activate it and then deactivate it. But I will tell them to go to target or walmart to purchase one there

Posted by: pauldg

more $ to be made off selling a gophone than sending them to walmart or selling outright - PS i'm talking pay as you go, so as soon as they add the initial minutes, you're paid

The fastest way to get fired when you work in a COR location.

GoPhones are never to be sold post-paid accounts or customers. 3 people in my immediate area have been fired for suggesting people goto Walmart and indirects to buy GoPhones for that purpose and were selling GoPhones to postpaid accounts.

I would think corporate employees would know better...

So a postpaid customer is not allowed to buy a Gophone AT ALL?

That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard....

If you would like to activate prepaid then its fine. Employees who suggest or tell it to customers as a cheap way to replace a phone and educate or encourage them to do it can otherwise face termination.

For real. You'd think they're trying to turn a PROFIT or something. Geez.

In all seriousness, this sucks for COR employees, and people stupid enough to buy a phone from Cingular still.

You know this really makes me sick to my stomach, as a customer of Cingular, an employee at a (former) indirect agent, AND a long longtime shareholder that gets dividends of SBC/AT&T, soon to buy Bellsouth. I'm all for the company NOT losing money, but when I hear stories like this, it really makes me want to see people at the top fired.

this really does piss me off.
you're going to get fired now for being honest? I mean come on, will an employee get fired if they suggest that another provider would be more suitable for him/her?

It sucks, for the people that don't care or have the money its not an issue. I see a lot of people who don't though and that's when I start talking about Craigslist or EBay and hook them up with a SIM card. It ticks me off as well as I wish we just had some cheap 6010s we can sell to people that dont have $200 for a 6030.

Posted by: ivwshane

I remember back in the at&t days we would have refurbished phones on hand that we would use for issues like these.

The problem was, everyone started using them for gophones and customers where asking for them for a cheap upgrade.
