Samsung C417 (released)

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

We just got our display models of this phone in our store today.

It looks pretty much like the D407 but squished down to the size of a RAZR. It has the same keypad that the RAZR-esque Samsung that Sprint carries. It also looks like there is a transflash slot on the side of the phone.

Looks like a decently features phone... but the front is a bit ugly.. almost looks like somebody sat on a D407. Why do you think nobody has heard anything about this phone???

These images were taken with a D407, sorry for the poor quality.

That looks nice, but the features don't make it any better than a V3.

Oh, that screen...

Can you say v220?

I'm sure the resolution is better, but it's pretty tiny.

I will have to agree with 91RS.

Most COR locations, at least in the west, now have them available for sale. The screen is actually pretty big and very bright. So far Ive been really impressed, but time will tell.

I asked in the other thread, but I'll ask here too - How is the earpiece volume for this phone? Is is low like the d807?

This is going to be Samsung's new mass-market cameraphone.

Quadband, Bluetooth 2.0, speakerphone, 16.5mm slim, 128x160 65K TFT internal display, 5 hours of talk time, VGA camera. Not really to compete with the RAZR.

I just played around with this phone at the cingular store. Everything is really solid, good volume... etc. however, it DOES NOT have the transflash/micro SD slot. The side slot is for the charger, and that's why it is 49.99 with two year contract. A very good entry level phone.. not as complex as Samsung D807 or ZX-20.

No voicedial and sound quality is pretty bad... other than that an average Samsung.

it really isnt too bad of a phone!

The reception on our demo model was horrible. I actually lost service with the phone in our store where every other phone picks up four bars. Has anyone else seen this? And it's not just that phone...all of our 417s are just as bad.

Reception on the D407 is terrible also.

May not be the greatest phone on the planet but it's nice to see Bluetooth on more and more entry-level handsets. Must be dirt cheap to put it in phones now.

Samsung has mastered it down to $10 a phone to add Bluetooth.

Just picked one of these up for an employee @ work. He hasn't had any complaints since Thursday. One interesting "feature" is that if you smash your fist on it while the flip is open and facing down on the table it won't break. The sales guy decided to show me this just before purchasing the phone. Unique sales tactic to be sure, but I suppose it shows that the phone is durable.

Maybe because there wasn't much to report... I know it has been mentioned on the forums before though. It's just a simple/cheap camera phone with a big display / bluetooth/ microSD slot. Nothing to get excited about, but not a bad phone. I love the non-color external LCD.

Don't understand why Cingular is the only carrer still getting Samsung phones with external antennas.

Posted by: solaimad

from what i've seen, its looks very nice for a 40$ handset (with rebates)

Is the signal quality any better on these than on past Samsungs or is going to be as mediocre as my X427?
