Hello all,
I just got an LG VX8300 and I want to make my own ringtone using the Sopranos theme song. I have the music (which I took off my own CD) and I have Audacity. The problem is that the music is not in MP3 format. I don't know how to get it into MP3 format and I have no idea how to use Audacity to edit it down. I also don't understand how to acutally get it to my phone and have the phone play the ring tone. I've read a lot of posts, but still am lost!
Can anyone help?
Thank you!

if you have the song in a file

you start audacity then chose 'open file' or 'import' and navigate to your song

once the song is in audacity it's a matter of using the mouse and marking the start nad finish of the 30 seconds you want for a ringtone

the tone has to be 30 seconds or LESS

then you 'export' the selected section AS an mp3 file

then you use bitpim to put it ( mp3 ) in the 'mr' folder mr=myringtones

Alright, I figured it out! I gave up on the stupid Audacity software, which was totally ridiculous (I'm quite computer minded and I had no idea how to make that software work correctly). I instead got Wavepad software (which another website said to try). It is 10x easiler to use and works 100x better. I editied my song in a couple simple steps and then emailed it to my call phone. A couple minutes later, there it was. I turned on Mp3 and wow, I had a very good quality ringtone complete with fade in and fade out! I would never, ever recommend that anyone use Audacity. It is just plain a pain in the a$$.
