Same old V3 connection questions...

I have read many, many posts and answers on connecting and transferring files to a V3 Razr that I am totally confused. Furthermore I have found and read some "comprehensive" guides that looked great when reading them but did little in the long run to help me out. As a new owner of this phone all I am currently interested in doing is uploading some custom MP3 ringtones to my new phone.

I have followed NineToez EXCELLENT guide to making MP3 ringtones and am now ready to upload some but don't own MPT and don't want to buy it unless I have to. I would like to upload these using freeware if possible.

My questains are these:

1. using a USB cable- do you HAVE to have MPT to upload MP3 ringtones to a V3?

2. using a blutooth dongle- do you HAVE to have MPT to upload MP3 ringtones to a V3?

3. I have downloaded and installed the following applications and drivers: P2k drivers, P2k Commander and Flex Editor. Neither of the two applications regognize that my phone is connected to the computer via USB (I haven't tried blutooth yet). I have tried launching P2k Commander and Flex Editor both at the same time and this does not help.

4. As everyone who has used P2k Commander and/or Flex Editor knows these are not intuitive programs to the newcomer nor is the idea of flex editing. It would be nice if someone had a link to a set of instructions like "Pk2 Commander for Dummies" for example.

Any help getting me over my obvious learning deficiency would be greatly appreciated.

you must use a cable to utilize any of the free software available for modding, but then you don't need MPT. If you use any method other than MPT you will also need to alter two files (referred to as .db files) to make the phone see the new sounds as available to be used as a ringtone.

So, it's MPT with bluetooth or free software with a cable.
