Hey all just joined the site after browsing it for a couple of week upon getting my new Cingular 3125. Being new to the whole smartphone thing I have a pretty noobish question to ask: How do I transfer files from my smartphone to a regular phone (example: SLVR L7)? I can receive them with no problems, sending them is the issue. Oh, by files I mean pics and audio

Since when is Cingular offering the 3125? Their site seems to show otherwise.

Maybe they meant 2125.

As for transfering files I don't know, but you've intrigued me so I'm going to look into it if no one knows.

lol you are right, its not being offered yet but the phone is infact a 3125 also known as the Qtek 8500, a friend of mine gets phones from cingular, and he, in turn, is kind enough to pass some on to me....

but back to business, genaldar, its all very strange, i cant find an option for sending files to other phones by using bluetooth at all....

You need to use the Beam option. It will try to send the file via infrared first and when it fails, it sends the file via Bluetooth.

How do i get to the option to even beam something to another device? I cant find it by going to Start>Settings>Connections>Beam or Start>Settings>Connections>Bluetooth>Menu>Devices

maybe I have to download a program?

In unralated news I just figured out how to change themes!

There isn't IR on the StarTrek. You can use File Manager, or a similar program to send via Beam.

Just note that Beam has some limitations as well -- it often times out on very large files. If your files are stored on a memory card rather than the phone itself, you will find it easier to transfer files using a card reader. Your microSD card in the 8500 should come with an SD adapter standard. You can use that to copy it to your computer. Then transfer it to your SLVR memory card.

By the way, a QTek 8500 is NOT a Cingular 3125 -- make sure you call it by its proper name or you will get all levels confusion and/or flaming.

Awesome, using the beam option in file manager worked fine, I managed to send it from my 3125 with no problems thanks for all the help, o and Ill try not to mix up my 3125 with the qtek lol
