Firmware 2.3.0 -- can't use 32k SIM??

Hi, I recently got my hands on a S40... one problem: every time I try to access my SIM data (i.e. pressing down to view phonebook entries) the screen locks and stats "operation failed." The only option on the screen is to turn the phone off.
I threw in my girlfriend's 16k SIM and it works fine (other that horrible signal strength :-)). So, it seems that the phone doesn't like the 32k Cingular SIM.
I have firmware 2.3.0 (old, I know)... so, after reading many of the posts on this forum, I it seemed like Siemens would be more than happy to upgrade my firmware...
When I called them, the guy was giving me a hard time, saying that the firmware has nothing to do with recognizing/using the 32k chip... I explained exactly what happened, and he told me I should go to my retailer and see about another replacement phone!?? After a little push and shove, he went ahead and gave me an RMA to send the phone to him for the firmware upgrade.
He knows I am on the cingular network, so does that mean they will put 3.2 on the phone?
Also, will the firmware allow me to use my 32k SIM?
Thanks,
:LB

The most recent release of the firmware is available through Siemens' service facility. Call 1.888.777.0211 for a RMA and instructions. There's no charge for this service.
Your problem should be resolved with the free update. I use the Cingular 32K SIM in my S40 with no problem at all.

Good to know...
I recently got an RMA and already sent out my phone. According to UPS they received it on the 12-26... anyone know when I might get it back? Do they notify you in any way (email/phone)?
Thanks,
