NEC L1 on Cingular

Has anyone done this and does it work? I need SMS and MMS and I suppose those settings might be difficult to get working, maybe I shouldn't get this phone?

I've gotten the L1 to work on Cingular here in SoCal

go to cingular.com -> support -> phone devices -> Motorola L6 ->then select mms,internet and or browser settings (all these settings work with my nec L1)
sms # is on cingular sim

Works smoothly in NYC .... Enjoying the heck out of this phone. The V3 was getting boring.
