Any former T-mobile Employees, I could use your opinions if you work at Cingular now.

First off, Mods, I figured posting this here would be the right place since I'm speaking specifically about experiences current and former reps have had. If this is not the correct forum, please let me know. I don't want to step on any one's toes.

I'm always evaluating my options and looking around for better opportunities. I've been looking into Cingular since I know a few people who work there, but they can't really answer some of the questions I have.

I see a lot of complaints about Cingular on these boards by the employees, and very few by the employees on the T-mobile boards so I was curious as to how Cingular, as an employer, stack up to T-mobile? I realize the question is a bit broad, but I'm very curious. My current position at T-mobile isn't what I'd like it to be and it appears that cingular will basically come thru with more money, but I'm really not interested in getting back into an environment that stresses me out to the point that I take my problems home.

So, if anybody could give me some pros and cons in terms of the company, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.

I worked for tmo for 2 weeks and I hated it, my manager was an ***, and caused tons of stresss for everyone, I left and went to cingular and my stress levels are few, so long as you can sell you got no problems, I like my job, my bosses, and my co-workers, and on the plus side I'm getting paid$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Well you can't base working at T-Mobile just because your boss was a moron.

I know a few people that work for Tmobile. Their comission checks are way higher than mine. They don't have nearly the amount of Quotas I have, plus Tmobile in general treats their employees better.

I worked in a T-Mobile corporate store for about 2 1/2 years - in those years I was tops in the division (of which there were 3 in the company when I was there) twice in sales. I made a crudload of money, and hated every second of working there. I worked my azz off, probably put in 50-60 hours a week and ritually only got paid for 40 of them. The management from store on up to divisional directors were awful, the HR staff was useless if you had a problem. The hourly rate was better but they don't pay that much anymore, so even that point is moot - you have to deal with selling a much inferior product which also kinda sucks (not to mention 395 day chargebacks kinda suck).

So, here's the takeaway - if you're willing to work so hard you lose all your hair and friends, you'll get paid a heck of a lot more at t-mobile. At the rate of work that I feel like doing now (say hitting around 120% of my quota monthly) Cingular is much better because I deal with a lot less customer complaints, I believe in the product I sell (I used AT&T/Cingular the entire time I worked for T), management is better (and even if they try to pull crap on me, I have the union). So, just think about how much of your life you want to give up. I decided the money wasn't worth it. (Plus the time, etc)

funny, the way you feel about t-mobile is how i feel about cingular right now. I guess the grass just always seems greener on the other side. This thread is probably going to get a lot of mixed feelings about either company...

I have worked at T-mo Corp for about 2 years. I have never worked for Cingular but my room mate has worked at Cingular corp for 3 years now and I hear all about it. He also works at the store directly across the street from mine. All in all they are 2 very different companies with 2 very different pay structures. I definitly make more money at T-mobile and my benefits are slightly better but my commission structure changes EVERY month. More money + more stress at T-mo. Less money, less stress, MORE structure at Cingular..

Ha ha. Well, some bad stuff has happened to me at T-mobile and I'm already burnt out. I've already been f*cked over, my store has completely changed and all that so I don't think it's the best place for me. However, I'm not really stressed there because of the job, I'm stressed cause of stuff outside the store which then gets channeled right back in because stuff happens at the job that irritates the hell out of me and it all rolls down hill.
