8125 vs. Treo 650 questions...

I have an 8125 and have had several ROMs on it, from the custom 2.17 to the latest Cingular ROM. My biggest problem with it was bad reception in certain areas and missed calls. Just to pick up the handset and see a missed call when the phone never rang is unaccetable to me. Another issue I was having is that sometimes it would only ring 1 or 2 times then go to voicemail. Not to mention the call drop issue when you've been on the phone for about 15 minutes.

I recently purchased a treo 650. Have been using it for 2 weeks and have not have one missed or dropped call.

I am perplexed at the high ratings the 8125 gets with these problems. I really prefer the 8125, but don't see how I can overcome these problems.

Really? It appears you've been living with your head in the sand!

In reference to dropped calls, read on...

I have plenty of other threads if you would like them, from several boards.

ok... apparently youre "living with sand" or your on crack... people anyday would take the 8125 over the treo as a phone

Look, this isn't a "debate over what device is better. What I am trying to determine here is if there is any solution or the dropped calls when your on the phone and a GPRS signal tries to take over the phone and resets the radio. Are you seriously trying to say you've not read about this or experienced it yourself? This is not only a major issue with the 8125 but with all of the Wizard models.

If you don't have any helpful information thats fine, but please do not turn this into a "my device is better than yours" debate. I own both.

what im saying is, try to reflash the rom and do some registery edits and the phone will be fine...

I went through 2 8125's. Call quality was abysmal, to say the least. Mine could do anything except phone calls. I finally took the 2nd one back and said screw it. This is a great pda, but not a great phone (unless you live under a constant umbrella of cell towers, that is...).
I have found a happy medium in the Nokia e61, though. I'm not sure when I'll try another HTC/WM5 device, but I'm not against it (once they fix the rf).
