That's a very nice Vette. I love that color of blue and although I am not a fan of the C4, I do love yours.

LT1. 1992-1996. The LS1 wasn't available in the vette till 97.

Thanks! He raced it regularly in the early 70's. I don't remember much about it, I was too young, but it was serious. Ran consistant 10.1's and 10.2's at about 141 MPH. He sold it to buy a house. I was smarter, I bought the house first!!!

Man, that's serious stuff.

Do you know any of the specs?

I assume that he had a big block with a supercharger on it, and really high rear gears. I'll also assume he used aggressive cam specs.

Man oh man.

ANd your friends have nice cars, too!

One question though, how do you get only 230hp out of a 350?

I'm assuming everything is real mild... smooth cam, low compression... etc.

I've seen 350s with 400hp and up, using mild parts.

I suppose though that the lower HP/milder parts will boost engine life over time, though

It was a 1969 L88. It had a 427 BB rated at a factory 430 hp with a 3 speed automatic. It was tweeked of course, and fitted with a Holley 1150 Dominator carb. Major motor work, and all normally aspirated!! No nitrous, no s/c, and no turbo. Only 116 of these cars were produced in 69. They were sold directly from GM race-ready. No radio, no heater, no power windows etc. Came with a cardboard tag attached to the shifter handle that said "Not recommended for street use" At 80 mph, kicking in the secondaries WOULD break the rear loose. Due to still needing some drivability, the gears were modest 3:73's. The hp is what really got it down the track. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 600.

You lost me. Which car?

VERY impressive.

What was the curb weight on the 69s anyway.

the curb weight on the 69 was a little over 3,200 lbs. The L88's were considerably lighter due to the immenities that were left out.

Any car

Ive seen 350 motors that produce that (granted, at the crank)

Not stock of course

Naturally aspirated, too

I meant what car on my site said 230 hp?. Any hp #s on my site are RWHP #'s. Crank hp is useless information. I am at 283 rwhp n/a, and 430 rwhp on n2o.

*Smacks forehead*

283, DOH!

Yea, crank info is generally useless, but you don't lose THAT much from driveline. 12-15%?

I hesitate to say "percentage". There is no real %. There are way too many variables to factor into driveline loss. But yes, there is a significant loss through the driveline. I can only guess my crank hp with my mods. I'm guessing around 345 crank hp.
