CU500 cant't send 2-page text messages?

On my old v551 I could write long text messages and the phone would automatically split them into two messages if I went too long;

On my CU500, if I write long messages it just won't send them out. Has anyone else noticed this. Is there a fix?

With a lack of side tone, weird volume issues and this text message issue, I'm having doubts about the phone....

I just sent a 400 letter, 3 page message to a blackberry with no problem

I sent a 3 page text mesg (though I'm getting frustrated by the keypad response, doesn't always pickup a key press even though I know I've pressed firmly and am watching the screen). I'm in process of looking for a different phone, the cu500 has too many little nuances that are adding up and frustrating me.

I've noticed that if you send a SMS that is longer than a single message it won't send while using the 3G network. If you force the phone into 2G, it'll send. Not sure if that's the case over there, it could just be a flaw in the configuration in the UMTS network here in Seattle.
