I found a case at best buy, if you like the clip on the belt, leather, velcro closing , phone sits sideways kind. It was for a samsung, but fits the 810i like a glove!
I can't find it on their website, but I know for a fact it was for a samsung, because it had a samsung logo "flag" stitched on the back side, which I took a razor and sliced off

I did use a Krusell (the black and orange zip up version) for a while, but after
swapping the rear cover and finding out how easy it is (will be) to swap out
scratched casings I've decided I like my 810 out in the open !!!

Yeah, I'm using a silicone case, but once the back comes ill just take it off and hav it in my pocket, and no one can tell its a w810 wen u case it up

yess the k750 case came in and your tutorial worked like a charm. Thanks glorfingal!!

@bluebox - more than welcome dude.
Now to wait for the "all white with black bits" case swap :-)

Hello everyone. I have always gotten the free or almost free Nokia's from Cingular. I finally ponied up a couple bucks and got an 810. It seems super awesome so far.

So I stubled upon this forum as I was trying to find a case for my phone, and then I read the super long thread on doing the swap. I definitely want to do this mod, but I am unsure as to where to purchase the rear cover. It sounds like cnn is now shipping rear housings of less quality. I was wondering if anyone knows where I can find a nice one with a metal cover?

Thanks for the help and this is a super informative thread.

i just got my k750i cover from cnn and got the metal cover and speaker mesh. Theyre still shipping good quality housings.

K750i backplate mod is the best!!!

Silver midplate from white W810i, and black K750i back plate (metal slide cover) and battery cover on my black Cingular W810i.
Also replaced the keypad in order to get rid ol' Jack Splat internet button.
