Contract Questions

Hi Everyone,

Just a quick question about contracts.

I'm new to Cingular and just purchased an 8125 with a 1400min Family plan, unlimited PDA data plan (39.99 one) and a 2 Year contract.

The phone was $349 with a $100 rebate (that I have not filled out/mailed in yet), I also have NOT cut the UPC from the box yet.

I am 1 week on the plan, still have 21 days left to change my mind.

I really want to get the 8525, and I'm hoping it will be released in the next 21 days. I doubt it though, from all my reading.

Anyway, I was thinking about downgrading my 2 yr. commitment to a 1 year commitment. I know that I will lose my rebat eligibility and have to pay more to keep the 8125 (about $50 more??).

Is it possible to downgrade? Will they give you a hassle at the store? Are there any extra penalties?

My thinking is that at least if the 8525 doesn't arrive within the next 21 days, I wont have to wait 2 years to be able to upgrade.

Any other thoughts? What's this about having 6 months of billing >$100.00 each month and being eligible for a standard upgrade? What does that mean?

Can I keep my current 2 yr. contract and upgrade within 6 mos. to the new 8525? If so, I assume it will be full retail price for the phone?

Any help appreciated, I'm totally confused and need some suggestions on what to do that makes the most sense.

Thanks!

Jeff

You're questions make my head spin(ouch)! It looks like you bought a phone with the intentions of returning it when a new phone is released. Bad idea, first it's a huge waste for the carrier and you're time. Second carriers often don't release phones on you're schedule. You may want to just cancel now and regroup when Cingular lets you and keep it simple.

But worst of all now you've turned me into one of those pro carrier people i make fun of.
