As it aims to be as broad-based as possible, instructions for specific phones
won't be covered. Scour the Howard Forums and search the web for more info
for your particular phone.
Before I start I just want to point out that you should always keep one thing in mind?even thought later on in a tutorial it might say to do otherwise, I?m telling you now DONOT DELETE ANYTHING!!!!!!! DONOT DELETE ANYTHING!!!!!!! DONOT DELETE ANYTHING!!!!!!! DONOT DELETE ANYTHING!!!!!!! DONOT DELETE ANYTHING!!!!!!!

Q) Can I send pictures/ringtones to my phone?
A) You can ONLY send pictures and ringtones to BREW enabled phones. So far this includes the VX44000, CDM 9500, and the T720. If you have any phone older than these phones you will NOT be able to send pictures or ringtones to your phone. LASO this is ONLY FOR CDMA Phones, The T720i from AT&T or CINGULAR or ANY GSM PR0VIDER WILL NOT WORK! FOR THAT MATTER IT WILL NOT WORK ON ANY GSM/TDMA PHONE AND THERE IS NO WORK AROUND!!

Q) What do I need to get pictures/ringtones on my phone?
A) You will need GAGIN, you will need a Data cable and WINDOWS 2000 or WIN XP. WINDOWS 98/ME WILL NOT WORK!

Q) Where can I get a data cable? (for T720)
A) You can get the data cable from www.eforcity.com or from radio shack.

Q) I got a data cable from Radio Shack and my phone isn?t being detected/GAGIN isn?t working for me? (for T720)
A) If you got the data cable from Radio Shack you will need to install these drivers, They can be found here.
http://www.futuredial.com/snapsync/...USB_Drivers.zip
http://www.foursevenfive.com/module...sdownload&sid=1

Q) I got a data cable from www.eforcity.com and my phone isn?t being detected/GAGIN isn?t working for me?(for T720)
A) If you downloaded the GAGIN_Complete the drivers are included for the data cable simply run the driver files and accept all changes and restart.
Drivers also available here
http://www.foursevenfive.com/module...sdownload&sid=1

Q) Where can I get GAGIN?
A) You can get it here http://www.foursevenfive.com/module...sdownload&sid=1 or from some of the other mirrors posted below:
http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...15&pagenumber=1

Q) What is GAGIN?
A) GAGIN stands for Get Around "Get It Now" (GIN), a service available
on BREW-enabled wireless phones by Verizon. This is the program that will allow you to get ringtones and pictures on your phone. GAGIN itself is a patch for
Qualcomm's BREWAppLoader.EXE which was designed to load BREW applications
and games to the phone. GAGIN is significant because it was the first
patch to show how the AppLoader could be modified to access to other parts
of the phone's EFS.

Q) How do I use GAGIN?(for T720)
A) READ THE TUTORIAL THAT IS INCLUDED WITH THE GAGIN DOWNLOAD, PLEASE READ ALL OF IT!! DONOT NAME/RENAME FILES USING UPPER CASE, SPACES or Single characters (ie A.mid, B.mid?)

Q) The Mog7 Method in tutorial expired what can I do, is there an alternative?
A) Use the Jaymer Method
1. GET My Tonz with Get it Now(its under Get Tones)
2. When you buy one ringtones it gives u ten free ones...
3. Buy One ringtone($1.50) It downloads the My Tonz Site App. Looks like a CD
4. Select the MyTonz CD looking thing to the right of Shopping Cart
5. Arrow down 2 times to Free Songs press [SELECT].
6. Download all free the FREE ringtones
7. Exit get it now.. You can still go back later
8. Goto Media Center -> My Tones
9. Rename the free tones you downloaded
10. Repeat 4 -9 You can do this OVER and OVER (when your done you can Download the one you paid for).
11. DOWNLOAD THE ONE YOU PAY FOR NOW!!

WHEN RENAMING RINGTONES ON THE PHONE USE ALL LOWERCASE AND NO SPACE?TO BE ABSOLUTELY SAFE USE ONLY NUMBERS WHEN RENAMEING YOUR RINGTONES!

Q) How can I use GAGIN for the 9500?
A) Simply download GAGIN_Justtutorial and DO NOT RUN THE RUNME.EXE, MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT RUN/EXECUTE/DOUBLE CLICK on RUNME.EXE, if you do just press cancel. Simply run brewapploder.exe and you should see the shared directory, in there is a ringers directory. REPLACE the ringers you have downloaded. It will not show the default ringers or the ringers that came with the phone you need to download a few ringers before doing this. More info here:
http://www.cdmangels.com

Q) How can I use GAGIN for the VX4400?
A) Follow ALL the steps in the tutorial included in GAGIN_Justtutorial, there are several more complicated things you need to do to get more ringtone slots, a VX4000 user may want to clarify on this.

Q) I can see my ringers directory but there is nothing in it(its empty)?how do I fix this?
A) This is glitch there are some thing you can do, first make sure you have downloaded atleast ONE ringtones from My Tonz or Modtones(these applications are in the Get It Now service) You cannot replace the ringtones that come with the phone. Try renaming all the ringtones to numbers on the phone (ie 1.mid,2.mid?.).
If you still can?t see the ringtones simply rename the ringtones on your computer to the one in the phone(make sure the ringtones on the phone is all lower caser and does not contain spaces.) ans simply drag them and place them in the ringers directory even though you can?t see them this still works sometimes.

Q) I installed the drivers and I tried all the comm ports 1-4 what can I do?
A) Install the comm. Patch for GAGIN it will allow you to use comm Ports 5-8.
You can download the comm port patch from here http://www.foursevenfive.com/module...sdownload&sid=1 or the mirrors posted here:
http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...5&pagenumber=12

If you still have trouble with this here is how you change your comm Port and check if the modem was detected by your computer

Q) I'm getting an error: "A required .DLL file ..." was not found.
A) You can usually find and download missing .DLL files by doing a web-search.
Make sure you are using Windows 2000 or Windows xp, there is no way around this. If you are using Windows 98/ME the program WILL NOT work.

Q) Its still not working..
A) This has been sometimes shown to work.
Step 1: Unplug phone and plug back in.
Attempt to connect

If failed,

Step 2: Plug in phone.. Turn off phone, turn on phone.
Attempt to connect

If failed,

REBOOT!

Q) How do I check if my phone is on the right com port or is being detected?
A) First make sure you have your phone plugged in to the data cable and that the data cable is plugged into the computer and the you have installed you drivers whether the radio shack drivers from above or the drivers that come with gagin_complete
1. Hold down the windows key and press the pause /break button...OR....press start goto Control Panel and double click on system...now?
2. Click on the HARDWARE tab...
3. click DEVICE MANAGER....
4. click Modems...
5. Double Click on Motorola USB Modem...(if this is not there then your phone is not being detected, try uninstalling all drivers and reinstall all drivers)
6. then in the Motorola USB properties window click the ADVACE tab....
7. Then click the ADVACE PORT SETTINGS Button
8. Change the COM PORT to 1,2,3, or 4(5,6,7, or 8 if you applied the comm. patch) ...
9. Click OK...
10. CLICK OK AGAIN and then
11. EXIT the Program and RESTART you computer..

Q) Where can I get Midis or Gifs?

http://www.musicrobot.com
Nextel (all Nextel midis do work for the t720)
http://www.howardforums.com/forumdisplay.php?forumid=80

Q) How can I make/edit ringtones?
A) you can start editing ringtones by converting mp3s to midis, you can find these at www.download.com after you convert to midi(format is 16kb, 16bit, 8mhz , mono, type 0) You can use anvil studio to edit it for free www.anvilstudios.com. You can use this program to convert from type 1 midi to type 0.

Q) How can I make Voice ringers aka Dead Ringers?
A) There is a way to do this and its a bit long so please take a look here.

Q) What is EFS?
A) Embedded File System in the phone itself. Its alot like a file system on
a floppy disk, just that the "disk" is not removable. This is all that
the patched AppLoader can currently access.

Q) How big is the EFS on my phone?
A) It varies by phone, but in most cases you can go into the BREW Shop (or GIN
application) and go to Options->Information and it will give you usage
stats.

Q) What are BALpatches?
A) The BREW AppLoader patches are a series of subsequent patches that expand
upon GAGIN's philosophy and also modify the BREW AppLoader to allow more
functionality. They are smaller than the original GAGIN patch since they only deal
with changing those bytes necessary to unlock the extra functionality.

Q) Where can I get BALPatches?
A) the latest patches are available here: http://www.foursevenfive.com/module...sdownload&sid=1

Q) Do I have to apply the GAGIN patch before using any of the BALpatches?
A) No, but it can't hurt. The GAGIN patch has a much more interesting splash
screen than the boring default one in the BREW AppLoader, so why not?

Q) Do I need to apply every BALpatch, or just the latest one?
A) Just the latest one. They are all-inclusive, the latest ones include all
the fixes of all the prior ones, plus possibly some counter-fixes if an
earlier patch was found to be buggy.

Q) What hardware do I need to use this patched software?
A) You need a connectivity cable (either serial or USB-to-serial). In most
cases a generic, inexpensive cable can be used instead of the more
expensive "kits" that come with unnecessary software. All you need is a
driver, which if it doesn't come with the cable, can be freely downloaded
from the web.

Q) What operating systems does the the AppLoader run on?
A) As of currently, it appears that it will only work on Windows NT/2000/XP
since one of the DLLs it requires was compiled in NT protected mode.

Q) The patched AppLoader freezes after asking for COM port. Whats wrong?
A) Make sure the cable is securely plugged into both the phone and the
computer. Make sure your driver baud rate settings and your phone's
settings match. Make sure you are using the correct COM port. Leave
the default Browse Directory as "brew" to test, since other directories (like "user") may not have been created yet and will also cause the AppLoader to lockup
if it can't find them.

Q) So what exactly can I do with it now that it works?
A) You can backup many of your important settings and downloaded BREW
apps/software for safe-keeping in case something happens to your phone.
You can also customize your phone by accessing different directories
in the phone's EFS, downloading files, modifying them, then uploading them
back to the phone.

Q) How do I download files from the phone within the patched AppLoader?
A) Right-click on a file and select "Copy From Device..."

Q) How do I upload files to the phone within the patched AppLoader?
A) In most cases you can just drag-and-drop one file at a time. If that
doesn't work, try right-clicking on the white area and select New->File and
specify the file that way.

Q) What directories in the phone are important?
A) While they vary from phone to phone, the most important directories are:

brew: BREW apps/games.
pim: Phonebook data.
user: Custom ringers, wall-papers, etc.

BALpatch lets you change the Browse Directory by simply re-patching.
Eventually you should be able to view the phone's EFS in its entirety by
just patching once and being done with it.

It might if its the BREW-enabled/CDMA version.

I'm pretty new to all this stuff, so could you explain that in a bit more detail?

CHEERS

Posted by: Cioni2k

Videonastie: No one is going to explain any more than its been explained already. WHICH IS 5,000 TIMES! Theres a FAQ for F*CKS sake.

People need to read more instead of wanting everyone to hold their hand through everything.

As one of the people directly involved in investigating and discovering some of the patches to the brewAppLoader, I submit my comments on the patches that I have made and the reason for my activities in supporting this effort......

I believe that it is my right as the owner of my phone to be able to put my own ringers and my own images into my phone AT MY OWN RISK. If I do anything which disables my phone, it's MY problem. In the process of taking my chances, I've found a number of useful patches and I have been and will continue to provide the details of those patches to this community for all those who are interested. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

I do not believe that anyone including myself has the right to illegally copy games, applications, ringers, images, or any other content which is not their own property. Brew apps that you get from the "Get It Now" service ARE NOT YOUR PR0PERTY and copying them is piracy. IF YOU CHOOSE TO DO THIS, YOU DO IT WITHOUT MY ENDORSEMENT. I will not assist anyone in such endeavors. Period. Don't ask me how, don't talk to me about doing it; I do not advocate or support software piracy!

I am not opposed to Verizon Wireless charging people for GIN applications or content. They have that right. I personally believe they are missing out on a huge opportunity to have enormous user satisfaction and support by providing technical details to their developer community (of which I am a part of). I am a registered developer. I have asked a number of times for information and support over the last six weeks and have yet to receive a single reply from the Verizon developer support group (see http://developers.verizonwireless.com/ for more information). They are missing the boat, and in the mean time I've been supporting this group rather than working for them. Just think of how prolific I would be with their support (as opposed to without)!!!!

There's my two cents worth, take it or leave it............

Cioni2k: Whats up with you, isn't his a forum where you can ask questions?

I've looked around the forum for information, but it all seems to be US based. I read one guy had fried his phone, but another said his worked fine, with some adjustments!

Get a grip, TIT!

Here's a quick update for LG VX4400 users (and possibly others) in case these threads slip below radar.

To customize your ringers:

http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...threadid=100423

To customize your wallpapers:

http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...threadid=101737

Some of the information may indeed apply to others as well.

Posted by: VeXed

I'm seeing this alot:

Q) I can't copy certain files, I'm getting an error.

A) Make you you are running the latest BALpatch -- download the latest one from the bottom of this thread:

http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...&threadid=99016

Also, some phones need to be in "offline mode" which means shutting it down so the phone's operating system isn't active, but still powered on (i.e., in the charger) so that the data connectivity still works.

Posted by: VeXed

My PM box has been flooded with messages like this:

Quote:
VeXed, thanks for all your hard work. I'm a newbie, and am having trouble loading new wallpaper onto my 4400. I connected the phone to my computer using the RadioShack cable and the Profile USB driver. When I run GAGIN, I get a 'sound' directory with a 'ringer' subdirectory. There are no other folders listed. When I run balpatch, I can't browse the phone at all. My only choices for browsing are the various drives on my computer, not the cell phone.

I've asked this question several times on the forum, but no one has given me the answer to my question. How do I get balpatch to see my phone? Where is my 'BREW' directory?

Basically, I'm looking for answers to some fundamental questions that I can't find answers to in the FAQ or in the rest of the forum.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Re-read the FAQ folks. S-L-O-W-L-Y.

BALpatch is a PATCH for the BREW AppLoader (B.A.L.) You use the AppLoader to browse the phone, NOT the patch.

I suppose these sorts of questions should be expected when trying to make something easy enough to use for the masses...

Posted by: VeXed

Q) How do I know what COM port to use?

A) If you're using a serial cable that plugs directly into a COM (serial) port, it should just be COM1 if you only have one COM port in the back of your machine.

If you are using a USB cable, make sure you have installed your USB driver for the cable! Upon doing so, you should see it in your device manager: Right-click on My Computer, go to Properties, then to Hardware tab, then click on the Device Manager button. It should be under Ports.

You should see the name of the port in parenthesis (e.g. (COM4) ) to the right of the USB-to-Serial Comm Port. If you don't see the COM port listed to the right of the device, try double-clicking on the device then go to Port Settings tab, then double-click on Advanced. You should see it there on the bottom. Change it if it conflicts with another device.

Once you know you've got the right COM port, if you're still have trouble connecting to your phone, make sure the Baud Rate (bits per second) setting matches the one in your phone. 38400 is usually the default.

Does anyone know where I can download xp usb drivers for motorola t720? The drivers I found in this forum and other places are for windows 2000.

Thanks!!!

I am sort of new to this so please bare with me. I have a t720 and i got the cable for it and i got GAGIN. I thought i figured out how to use it by I guess i havent yet. I was able to transfer gif files to my phone and view them on my phone. When i try to send midi files however, there is a problem. I purchased the "i cant get no satisfaction" ringtone from modtones. Then backed it up on to my pc. Then i deleted it from my phone and renamed the midi file i had on my pc and tried to send the one on my pc to my phone but it didnt work. On GAGIN it showed that the ringtone was transferred and it showed it in the ringtones folder but it never showed up on my phone. I even tried to just delete and resend the same tone and that didnt even work. I am also a little confused about what brew is exactly. Maybe my phone isnt brew but then i probably wouldnt be able to send the gif files, which i can. Anyway as you can see i am in need of some instructing so if someone can help me i would really appreciate it.

Rebel:

BREW is short for Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless application and device development. It is a proprietary application platform owned by Qualcomm, who incidently owns CDMA technology as well. Basically, programmer pay Qualcomm money to be able to develop BREW applications. Then these application are offered to customers with BREW enabled phones. Verizon does this through their GIN service (Get it Now). BREW's main competition is JAVA (J2ME etc) which programmers prefer since it is open source and free. You can go to Qualcomm's website to find out further info on BREW.

As for your problem with GAGIN. Here is a hint... DO NOT DELETE ANYTHING off the phone. Just replace the files. You will find how to do this in past postings and instructions with the program. Make sure the name of the file is the same as on the phone; including Case (lower/upper). You need to replace the tone you downloaded with the one that you want. After you drag the new song onto the phone via GAGIN, then you can rename it through your phones's interface... _NOT_ through the GAGIN program. Rename through the phone.
Hope this helps.

Posted by: rebel543

Thanks for your help vodka but now i need to get another ringtone on in order to replace it. Do you know of any places on GIN where they give you like a free demo tone or anything like that; just so i can replace it with one of my tones.

Posted by: frail

Modtones gives you one free credit.

Posted by: rebel543

I was able to get the midi transfer to work and now i can put a lot of ringtones on. Now i have another question regarding transfer and backing up of games and other apps. I read about some sort of batch that allowed you to do this but im not sure if it is out yet or if it is, where to get it, or even how to use it. Would i have to already have a game on my phone? Would i be able to back it up to my computer? Is there more of a risk with messing up my phone when sending games. If i can get games, where can i get them. On the readme for GAGIN it had one site: http://www.sinc.sunysb.edu/stu/miwang/motapps
and I think all the files are there for games but they are like jar and jad files and i have no idea what to do with them. Can someon please answer my questions. Thanks

Posted by: rebel543

I also forgot to ask previously if there was some sort of method for storing more images on the phone than the number that is provided. Sort of like the mog7 method for pictures or anything like that. Thanks

Posted by: Mr_Vodka

No there isnt one for images. As for more info on GAGIN BALPatch etc... Please refer to fourfiveseven.com or beavermjr.com for lots of info on GAGIN.

Posted by: Mr_Vodka

Also forgot to mention... You can use Dotphoto/Pictavision to download new wallpapers. I think you need the newer Firmware though: 2DP. Not sure if this works or not though since I never tried it, but you may be able to download a few pics to the phone and then replace them with GAGIN. But again I have never tried this so dont quote me on it.

Well I dont know what happened to my previous post but here I go again. Anyway I read the entire faq section and I did many searches. I even checked the two pages metioned above. But I cant seem to find any info on how to download games and applications. I have GAGIN with patch 9 from the site fourseven.com or whatever it's called. Now can someone tell me where I can find instructions on what I have to do to download the game/applications into my phone. I can do the ringtones/wallpapers with no problems but i'm unsure about the games. Is it the same process? After I put patch 9 into the GAGIN I also noticed that the ringtones and wallpapers dont show up anymore. Can someone help because there is alot of us out here that are in the same postion as I am. This would help a bunch of us newbies out a lot. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

What do you mean "your previous post"? You just registered tonight and this is your first post. Do you have more than one username? If so, this is not allowed.

Posted by: Moto123

No I dont have two names. What I meant was that I made a previous post but I guess the site was kinda messed up. So it never got posted. That is why I said I dont know what happened to my previous post. Sorry for the misunderstanding, but can you give me any info on my question mentioned above?

The site might have errored out when you posted, this happens to me quite often. As for your question, I really can't help you there. I don't mess with GAGIN at all.

Posted by: T720carkitguy

Hi all. I've read all the FAQ's and I'm stumped. Just got my new Verizon T720 (2DP) + my USB cable (eforcecity) and I'm trying to use Gagin with Win XP. When I launch Gagin, the only directory I see is a root with 7 files and an empty Download directory. How do I get to the directories with tones and gifs? I tried the balpatch 9 but get same (?restricted) directory structure. Thanks for any help...

Posted by: Jspec

I have the exact same issue as T720carkitguy. Did verizon get wise to gagin and kill it's ability? I have 3 directories in gagin they are 1950, 1148, and Download. Someone please help!! I am stumped.

Posted by: T720carkitguy

A big thank you to the nice guy who PM'd me.

Here is the additonal info: It is normal to see the directories I listed above if you don't change the Browse Directory when you run the balpatch. Run the latest version of balpatch and change the browse directory that is shown from "brew" to "user" -- all lower case letters. Then patch the BrewApploader.exe file. The next time you run the BrewApploader, it shows different directories - "shared", which contains the gifs, and "ringers" which in my case was empty. I then downloaded a single free mid file and it then showed up under the ringers directory.

As for the instructions to "delete and then send a file of the same name", I found that I could just overwrite the .gif. or .mid file and this worked fine. Overwriting is a good way of confirming that you renamed the new file the same as the old. There is no confirmation of the overwrite, but it just plain worked!

Good luck to all. Games is my next adventure. Any good BREW games to try out there?

Posted by: Jspec

Thanks a bunch that was the info I was missing!!

Posted by: T720carkitguy

Glad you figured it out....
If anyone is confused, look at the screen that comes up when you run balpatch. Just below mid-window, you will see the word "brew" in a dialogue box. Change it to "user".

Your welcome!!! Now if you ever get the games to work let me know how you did that because i'm still stumped when it comes to games.

What is really needed is a faq for gettin games on the t720. I am getting a weird error like security key not recognized when I try to get it now! Did I mess something up?

Jspec's security key issue sounds like a Browser Setup problem (Main Menue/Settings/Browser Setup).

Some VZW Entry Details (Main Menue/Settings/Browser Setup/VZW/Menu/View) for west coast Verizon CDMA are:

Name: VZW
Homepage: [empty]
User ID: [empty]
Password: [empty]
WAP ID 1: 153.114.115.100
WAP Port 1: 9203
WAP ID 2: 153.114.116.100
WAP Port 2: 9203
Confirmation: Off
Cache Start-Up: On (Store)

Maybe if the phone isn't pointed to the right address the security key can't be exchanged and validated. Jspec should probably check with the carrier to get the right connection details.

the phone is not programmed right if you get that error...please take it back to the store and tell them GIN is not working...don't say GAGIN is not working otherwise they'll laugh at you...

Ok Let me get this GAGIN thing strait. I got a verizon Samsung a530, do I first have to download form GIN a bunch of paid ringtones and then I could replace them with new ones that I get from the net for free.
How manny ringtones can I download.
Sorry about this questions but I'm new at this.

Check out the post entitled "A530 and GAGIN, what we know so far" It's a good start. And seriously, the search button does wonders. Saves people from having to answer the same questions over and over. I've walked about 10 people through this, and it takes about 20 minutes of reading these threads, and 5 minutes of playing with the phone. Good luck

I have a data cable and search forums and websites for my problem. I have a i95 I know how to put ringtones, Wallpapers, games and even screensavers on my Nextel phone. Why is this GAGIN such a big head ache for my Verizon t720. When I try to connect on com 1 it says could not detect any devices. I tried my other 2 com ports as well. I used the patch correctly and still same error. If anyone could offer any assistance I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

First off, figure out what port your phone is on for sure, to do this (in Windows XP/XP Pro): Control Panel -> Phone and Modem Options -> Modems -> Motorola USB Modem. If it is on a port above 4, get the BAL patch which allows ports 5-8 or swap it to an open port between 1-4.

Posted by: bw03

If the port is greater than 4 you don't really need balpatch to do it.

IE. If you T720 in on com port 6, just type in "com6" to connect.

Posted by: cletus323

Does anyone have balpatch 8 that I can get from them? I haven't been able to find it anywhere. Every thread I find here or at cdmangels.com points to foursevenfive

We need to find another host for all of the files that were on foursevenfive.com and update the FAQ's.

BalPatch Thread Balpatch 1-9

Thanks to Zero on cdmangels for the Link

This doesn't work for me. Where can I get the latest GAGIN software?

Posted by: BigDaddy5

It's available at www.brewbackups.com

Not too complicated...

1) BALpatch4 to dloadindex directory.
2) Use the patched AppLoader to download brewRingerIndex.map.
3) MAPedit the file with the names of your ring-tones.
4) Upload the file back to the phone.
5) BALpatch back to user directory.
6) Upload your ringers to sound/ringer.

That's too complicated for me. Help me out here. I just got GAGIN, and am not a computer junkie. How can I get ringtones and wallpaper? I put some stuff in my shared folder, but nothing happened. Thanks

So, does GAGIN work w/ t730s? I've looked at several FAQs and threads but all they seem to talk about is the T720s.

No it doesn't. You phone has to be Get It Now enabled in order for it to work.

Posted by: Shpappy

I can get connected, but it gives me this message.

Error in transfering file to device
Please check path(s)

What's wrong?

Just thought Id share my exp with GAGIN and my verizon t720:

My phone is version 1.2.22.2DP, so its not modded or anything.

When I first installed the USB driver and plugged my phone in, windows would say "This device cannot start, there are no drivers installed"

I tried tons of different drivers, rebooted, etc. No motorola usb phone, nothin. Power cycled the phone.

This is what finally worked:

I left the phone OFF. Then plugged in the usb cable, the phone semi turned on, said charging. At that same moment winXP said found new hardware, found the motorola modem, and everything was dandy after that. Now I can plug the phone in while its on and dont have that error.

I KNOW I didnt miss anything. I tried this on 3 different PC's, all said the usb device couldnt install drivers. I tested on yet another PC, sure enuff, wouldnt setup right until I plugged the phone in while it was OFF.

****ALSO**** The "Jaymer" Method mention at the first post of this thread doesnt work! I followed the instructions exactly, and when I goto "Free Songs" I get "Error [ERR3001] Free songs are no longer available." GRRRRR!

MR_Vodka. I have a T720 with the cable an the Gagin software and it is recognoized on Windows XP and I see the files and so on..but. Anytime I try to "Copy from Device..." I receive an "Error - Could not read file from device" window. What I am suppose to do?

The cable I bought for our Samsung A610 (and it works great and even has a charger via USB power included) came from a guy on ebay, and the description says it works for
A660 A310 A530 A610 A600 A660
so I would assume that it should work.

can someone help me out here. i got a 4400 and i got GAGIN and i downloaded the USB drivers from futuredial and i got the cable from radioshack and it wont seem to goto a COM port. i installed the drivers and it did absoultly nothing at all. it just said it installed the drivers but everytime i plug in the cord it says "new hardware found" and says it fails everytime i try to install it cause i dont have a disk. and those 2 sites that say they have drivers dont work. the futuredial one goes to someplace on futuredial that says its been moved and the 2nd one just daoesn't work. so i need some new drivers or something so can someone help me.

Can I use GAGIN on the VX4500

I got I ubs cable from eBay and I can't get my computer to detect. Can someone please help me?

P.S. I have tried different software that I have found but I can’t get my computer to recognize my phone.

Posted by: Joyous

I noticed most of the links don't work anymore in this tread. I read the entire GAGIN FAQ and no one mentioned anything about uing a bluetooth conection on their phone instead of a purchased USB cable. My PC isn't bluetooth but I have a USB plug in adapter. When I instal the drivers it came with it only lets me choose com port 5 or 6. None of the links here for patch 5-8 work anymore. Has anyone else tried this yet?

Posted by: Vatothe0

Well, the thread was started in 2003 so I doubt any of it applies any more.

Posted by: Joyous

So no one uses GAGIN anymore? What is the program I should be reading on nowdays?
