Raise Anyone?

Just curious to see if anyone here has obtained a raise before. And if so, how long had you worked for, and what are the requirements for getting one. This 9.30 / hr thing is kinda lame

Per union here we get a raise every like 6 months. I'm at like 11.20 after a year and half. Not sure what the exact percentage or whatever is.

merit increases for non bargained employees come around in april.

I worked in a Cing call center, a friend/co-worker and I figured out when we would break $12 an hour, with union raises and it was somewhere in 2008 (this was last year 05). We both switched to sales and we started with $12 an hour, plus commissions. We average $23 an hour with comissions. I went part time and make more than fulltime in call center with all the mandatory overtime (avg 48hrs), now 32 to 36 hours a week, a whole day of work less a week. Plus free phones and PDA, 2 COU lines, 2 ERP lines, free clothes twice a year, reward points, also anytime we have to go to training we are fed. Much better side of Cingular.

Also it is easier to help the customers with their bill/handset/bluetooth/SIM when they are standing in front of you.

Is there a minimum length of employment before an employee is eligible for the raise? Are raises given at specific periods during the year?

If you're a bargained employee, you get a raise after you're first three months of employment and then after you're first six months. After that its every six months I believe.

In the union you generally you get a raise every 6 months and there is yearly Cost of Living raise on the anniversary of the contract . Once you top out on the pay scale though you only get the yearly COL.

Whats the top of the pay scale for a sales rep?

If I haven't set up to have my dues come out of my check, will that affect my raise?

Just to let you know your counterparts in AT&T call centers <landline> are getting paid $28 hour top pay after 1 1/2 years PLUS Commissions and bonuses....

Makes you feel good doesn't it?

sales or customer service? but either way i call BS. there is no way anyone is paying an inbound sales reps 28 bucks an hour plus commission, especially in telecommunications. and certainly no customer care rep is getting almost 60k a year after 18 months of service.

if you can prove otherwise i'll gladly pack my bags and forward my resume to that call center.

AT&T Sales/customer SErvice. You know, the people you call regarding your landline service? That customer service. I used to work for SBC, Business Customer service. Yes, it's true. And the paychecks were a dream. I was being paid $16 an hour just for TRAINING for 3 months.

It's not BS, trust me, it's an excellant job. If you can ever get into one of those call centers, just be prepared because it's hard work, constant hard work, and the customer are a PITA, but the pay is phenomenal.
