I just got my bluetooth adapter and have been playing around with settings for quite a while. I cannot get any software to see my KX5. HELP PLEASE, I don't have hours to invest in this...This is what I have:
Laptop running Windows XP SP2
IVT Corporation BlueSoleil Bluetooth usb adapter
BitPim Version 0.9.07 official
QPST 2.7 Build 91
Mobile Phone Software Version 3.7.01 Kyocera (060812007972) (3.00)
and of course a US Cellular Kyocera KX5 Slider Remix
How do I, If i can, get any of this stuff to work. I need a step by step or something. I am 99.9% sure my bluetooth adapter and phone can see each other. but as far as the correct settings go I'm lost.
I did install the disk that came with my bluetooth adapter but that was after
I already had all of this software installed.
This is my first ever run in with Bluetooth and I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. I have searched the forum and it seems i'm the only one having absolutely no success.
When I go into device manager to find the correct COM port (learned that by reading) there are a bunch like 16 through 23. I was only expecting to see one. I have tried a few and will continue to try until someone here can help or I figure it out but it is extremely confusing.
All i really wanna do is put my phone book back on the phone. But I would like to try some of the mods i've read about like the camera time thing.
I appreciate all help, links, and suggestions.

Okay now I know what pairing is and what it does and I got the phone and the usb adapter to communicate by disabling the usb storage function on the phone. now I just need at least one of the software tools to work and I'll be somewhat happy. still working.....

Boy do I feel like a dummy ... I was typing, for example, "COM 14" instead of "COM14", gosh I feel stupid.... bitpim works... if I can get phone tools I'll be happy...
