track phone usefulness?

theres a motorolla track phone deal at family dollar for $20 and the lady at the counter says it takes sim cards.question is...do they only work with track phone cards or would a cingular card work?i may get one for a spare but im wondering if i have to get it unlocked or not.

you'd probably have to get it unlocked as it's only geared for trac phone prepaid cards.
you could try putting in your cingular sim and see if it works

If it is anything like the Nokia's, then it is running proprietary Tracfone firmware. I was able to unlock the Nokia 1100b from Tracfone and insert my T-Mobile SIM but it still deducted minutes from the phones "tank" and the minutes used also counted against my T-Mobile minutes.
