Help - Entered incorrect unlock code on L2

Hi, I have just purchased a Motorola L2 from Fido. I put in a Rogers Sim card and entered the wrong subsidy code about 5 times. Now the phone no longer asks for the subsidy code and says to contact network provider. Is there a way to flash the phone so that I can attempt a correct subsidy code or is the phone now locked forever? I should have read here first about the 5 guess limit. Thanks a lot.

there are no flashes to unlock the phone. go back to fido and ask for their assistance.

How about a flash that will restore the firmware to what it is. Ie - It will ask me to enter in the subsidy key instead of asking me to contact the network provider? I think it's about $60 to get it unlocked by Fido, and I'm not willing to spend that much at the moment. Thanks for the help.

well, if fido already gave you the subsidy code to unlock the phone, why would they charge you to unlock it? just tell them you screwed up and need help. you are saying subsidy code, but your caption says unlock code - which are we talking about??

Sorry to be confusing, I am talking about the subsidy code. Here's what happened:
1. Bought L2 on 3 year contract from Fido
2. Tried to put Rogers sim in the phone
3. Phone powered on, but says "enter subsidy code"
4. I thought it might be something easy so I tried 000000000, 123456789, etc
5. After about 5 incorrect tries, it came up with "contact network provider"
6. I entered the Fido sim card and the phone works perfectly
Conclusion: Phone will not let me enter subsidy code if I do purchase it.
Question: Is there any way to reflash the phone so that it will say "please enter subsidy code" when I enter the Rogers sim. For the moment I don't need it unlocked.
Thank-you

ok - there is NO FLASH that will unlock a phone. period. i'm not familiar with fido (i'm in the us), but many providers will give you the subsdidy code if your account is in good standing and you've been a customer for awhile. tell them your're going to euorpe and need to be able to buy a local pay as you go sim card. if they do give you the code and it doesn't work (whether because of your present attempts, or whatever) tell them and make them fix it. otherwise, it's off to a third party unlocker.

Sorry, I'm not sure how to make it clear. I cannot enter a subsidy code. The phone will not allow me to enter a subsidy code even if I had one. I am not looking for a flash that will let me unlock my phone. I am trying to restore my phone to it's original state, as I said. Thanks again

i understand that!! the point is, you tried to enter a code when you DID NOT HAVE the proper one and the phone locked up - which is normal. my point was that if you got the PROPER subsidy unlock code from fido (again assuming they are not going to charge you an unlocking fee) and it did not work, you would be able to call them and ask for assistance. if they won't give you the code or assist you, then the choice is a third party unlocker. OR, again, call them and tell them a friend put his sim in and tried "making it work" and that's why you are where your are - they can restore the phone so it is functional on your fido sim - not unlock it, but restore it to it's prior operating condition.

seems like there is a lot of confusion. OP, you have a couple options:
1. take the phone to Fido and/or a dealer with the appropriate hardware (e.g., software+cables or unlock box, etc.) and have them do the unlock.
2. flash the phone to its original state (i believe this is do-able) using the right cable and flashing software. then enter the correct subsidy unlock code to unlock it.

if you have tried the wrong code many times. you have to let the phone power on for as long as 2 hours, it will prompt you to enter subsidy code again.
never try to guess the code. it will just waste your time. get the code from the network provider or send it to the unlock shop.

Fido actually charges $250 for the subsidy code. Yuet is also correct by saying you have to power the phone on and wait 2 hours before it will ask for the subsidy code again.

$250?
that's crazy.
