Taken from mypocketpcmobile.com

HP set the release date for iPAQ hw6940 and iPAQ hw6945 Mobile messengers. The devices cost 600 USD and will be offered by Cingular by the end of this week (15/09/06).

$600 Six months ago would've been well spent on this device. $600 today would purchase myself a nice JasJar or a 8525 or even an E61 unlocked with 2GB storage. In any event, I hope this device does well.

Why would you want something without UMTS/HSDPA for that price?

Wirelessly posted (whatever the next lines says: Mozilla/5.0 (SymbianOS/9.1; U; en-us) AppleWebKit/413 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/413 UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0)

Holy crap 600 dollars. They better cut that price in half

$599 is the price for it WITHOUT carrier subsidy and directly from HP unlocked. Cingular will most definitely sell it for cheaper if you purchase it WITH A CONTRACT. I'm guessing arounf $200 cheaper ($399) with a service agreement after any rebates.

As for the lack of UMTS/HSDPA, I have to agree. HP screwed up horribly. The 6900 series is too little too late: a device that should have been released A YEAR AGO and is already old before it's release in a few days and for the price they are asking ($599 unlocked) they might as well kick themselves in the balls because releasing it so late and all the delays they've already kicked themselves in the ***.
