I have not tried other sites yet, but found Yahoo to be fast and very legible, with the help of Opera.

Point your Opera browser here:
http://maps.yahoo.com/

Once your map loads. Make sure you UNCHECK fit to page, under "edit"

Here is a Screen shot of NYC, USA.

Another nice feature of Opera, is it's zoom function. This also makes reading the maps much easier.

I would assume that if your part of the word is supported via some type of online mapping site. You too can view maps of any location.
