VX8300 Data Cable & Kit Questions

I'm considering an ugrade from an LG 4500 to the 8300 (nice phone) on Verizon. I've heard there won't be a Mobile Office Kit (MOK) for the 8300. Assuming that's accurate, I really like the 8300 but don't want to lose the functionality of my current setup with an LG VX4500, BitPim, and the MOK (w/ data cable).

Questions:

1) Will the Music Essentials Kit's (MEK) data cable suffice for the following on the 8300, or should I buy the official LG data cable online?

- Backup/transfer/restore phonebook entries between multiple 8300 phones.
- Installation of Windows modem driver and support for use as PC modem.

2) If not, will BitPim allow phone number transfers between two 8300's? (Does MEK do this as a substitute for MOK?)

3) Is the 8300 modem driver included with the MEK? If you've found any modem drivers specifically for the 8300, please advise and include link if applicable.

4) Is the 8300 data cable only a data cable, or does it charge too? (The 4500's was only a data cable.) In answering this, please specify whether you have the LG OEM cable, or the one from Verizon's MEK if different. (Not a big deal, just nice to know.)

Thanks, I'm tech savvy and just want to know what I'm potentially gaining/losing in the swap before upgrading and committing for another two years. I tried checking some messages here before posting, and need a little more info.

I called Verizon to double check the information. Lo and behold, Verizon indeed sells a Mobile Office Kit (MOK) for the 8300, just got bum info.

I had looked on their web site but missed it -- not exactly the easiest thing to find. It's under the VX8300 accessories, under "Data Products".

Here's the link, but one probably has to enter their zip code first to get to it:

By the way, the SKU number is VERKULG8300 if anyone else is looking for one.
