I am looking for a new phone. I am replaceing a motorla razor and ipaq pda. I am currently looking at the backberry 8700c, Nokia 9300, Nokia e61, cingular 8125, cingular 2125,or sonyericson k790a. I baseically need some thing that is like my ipaq and has a phone. I want it to be mac compatable so that I can move emails to the phone. Bluetooth is important. Mutimedia is not important. camera is also not needed. wifi would be nice but not needed. It must also have a full calander. I have up to $300.00. what is my best choice. It must work on cingular.

Well I've had two of those phones. The 8125, which I hated, too big and too slow; and the 2125, which I liked, though it was cripled with the smartphone OS. I decided to get an E61 this morning since I dropped a 25kg weight on the 2125. I've read tons of great reviews on this phone and it seems to be one of the best smartphones around right now. You can probably get it for about 350.

so the nokia e61 is better than the blackberry 8700c

bump bump bump

E61 destroys the bb 8700... The bb doesn'te ven have expandable memory. On top of that, the E61 does have wifi, a nicer display and a mini sd card slot. My friend just bought one recently over a BB and he loves it. Since you don't need a camera this is the best choice IMO.

does the E61 sync to a mac like the 8700c does ?

I have a another question what would be better choice HTC TYTN, Cingular 3125 ?

Posted by: JMBrown

Those are two entirely different devices really. The tytn is a PDA/Phone and the 3125 is a Phone/PDA. Personally I'd go with the Tytn for 3G, WiFi, QWERTY, and WinMo 5 PPC.

the tytn's 3G isnt compatible with the 3G cingular has.

HTC Tytan = Cingular 8525, which should be out in Oct. If you want a full keyboard, go with the 8125 as the 8525 will be over the 300$ limit you set fourth.... If you can go past the 300$ mark, bill to mobile with a promise to pay before due date of new invoice, get the cingular 8525. If you don't mind not having 3g or a full keyboard, the 3125 is what I would go with. I am really trying to decide what I would like to go with. I already have a bb 8700c and sidekick 3, so i'm thinking i really don't need the 8525, but I want 3g !

do you like your 3125?

I am trying to find out how people like their cingular 3125 because I had tried the phone at a local cinguar store and I had liked the phone but the one they had was a return and it felt a little slow but not that bad. Also it took a while for the phone to be ready to use. Please let me know how you like it that way i can decide on it

Well I held it out a corporate kiosk near my 2nd job. I loved the feel of it. He was going to turn it on so I could play with it, but I told him not to bother as my break was over. I have too much bulky objects anyways, so I may not even get the 8525, unless I get it for free, which I probably will and it's not because I work for them and it will be legal.... The thing you didn't like about the reason, either fixed or improved on in the 3125... thats how I see it.

Yeah I like it a lot, but honestly, I'd prefer 3G and a QWERTY keyboard.

3G is what I want so much. But the QWERTY is not important.

Yes it is. Several people in the Cingular smartphone forums have them and they get the 3G speeds. It is TriBand UMTS 850/1900/2100 so it works around the world. Also is QuadBand GSM with EDGE.

I was actually reading that somewhere that it was a tri band UMTS, but does it have hsdpa?

is it better to get the cingular 3125 or the non cingular qutek 8500 ? I can get either one for around $400.00.

The Cingular 3125 is better; it has 128MB of ROM, vs 64 MB on all other versions of the HTC StrTrk, and I don't know of any downside (other than being branded cingular). There is one version with a firmware problem causing bad reception, but I'm not sure if it is the Qtek version or not. I have the Cingular 3125.

I may actually get the 3125. Have you watched movies/videos on it? If so, how's the quality?
