D807 Volume Problem Fixed?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I'm sort of thinking about picking up a Samsung D807 for a new toy, but have heard that the earpiece/speakerphone volume is untolerably low in the majority of handsets out there so far. Low earpiece volume is an absolute deal breaker for me, and I have had my two Razr's modded to fix that problem. Is there a fix for this issue?

Anybody had any luck hacking the phone yet to raise the speaker gain?

Hmmm...guess not. Low speaker = no phone.

I hear yah, I really would like to get a new phone this weekend and the w810i isn't out yet. This is the only other phone that I like but if the volume is still to low forget it.

Seems like the low-speaker problem is one that there either is no cure for, or updated firmware has not been made available for. Until this is fixed on Samsungs end, I'm out on the phone. Especially after I called Cingular NBO and got a price of $389 after my 30% corporate discount!!!

So far I am happy with the phone, However - two things i would have liked to see Samsung release a fix for

1. Speaker volume increase
2. LCD should turn off while the phone is charged

Actually got the chance to go to my friendly Cingular store and place a call on one of their functional display phones, and to my pleasant suprise...the earpiece volume wasn't as bad as I had expected. Not as loud as my modded Razr, but not too bad. If if could be adjusted just a notch or two, it would be perfect. Maybe it's the latest version, and the first batch had the real problems?

I've had the Samsung D807 for a little over a week now. I find the RF great and the volume is fine for my needs. Battery life is awesome!!!!!!!!

The rep told me that he had several of the D807's returned for horrible RF, and not for the speaker volume. He said that some customers were going for the Razr just to get good reception. I travel into Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas quite a bit and I need a phone that gets Razr-quality RF.

hmm i wnated this phone, but now i guess i'll just get the abysmal l7

Keep in mind that when you test one in a Cingular store it will sound louder than it is cause you are in a relatively quieter place. But walk outside or try to use it in any situation where there is even a little background noise and you will notice how bad the speaker volume is.

Not to mention playing MP3s on there without headphones is completely awful. Samsung should be ashamed of themselves.

And BTW, check out the Tmobile version, I think it's the T809. The screen on there makes the 807 look like an LG. hehe It's incredible.

Pretty much written this phone off. Looking seriously at the Cing. 3125 as my next device.
