• 'Logogate' - not unique to HowardForums

    Now as you've noticed in the past 2 months we've changed logos a few times. We went from our old logo to a temporary one followed by the current one. There seemed to be some backlash regarding the new logo so we held a poll asking people if they want to keep a newer logo or have a logo contest.

    In the end 55% of people didn't mind the new logo (there were 2 versions) so we've decided to use an updated version of the new logo.

    Now that we have our new logo we can move forward. You should expect a new look for the forums in the coming weeks!

      I don't know howard, combining the poll results of A and B so as not to have a contest...I don't like that.

      If you count the total number of votes for the presented logos (which were essentially two variations of the same basic design) vs. having a contest, the majority of those voting opted not to have a contest.

      Admittedly, I realize now that the poll was flawed in the way I set it up. Perhaps the choices should have been: a) One Of These Logos b) Contest.

      Though, I don't think that would have affected the outcome.

      Thats too bad, I would have liked to see a contest. Some seriously creative people out there who would have come up with some nice stuff. Oh well.

      hmmm.. i think there should be a "Fan Art" section on here. I think it would bring in a TON of cool art and possibly suggest future design..

      I like that idea. Maybe we can turn some of the fan art into avatars or people can use them in their sigs

      The poll is flawed.

      Just like how in a political election, one party cannot run more than one candidate.

      Allowing the two candidate logos to run and split the votes, and then to combine the weight of their votes and say that together they out weigh the competition, is biased and flawed.

      In my opinion, the better way to do it would be to offer choices of A) one of these two logos A) competition, etc... and then IF option A wins, hold a run-off vote to allow the users to choose between the two.

      Flawed perhaps, and I admitted as much in my previous comment. But biased, no. We had no ill will toward a competition when the poll was set up, we just didn't give it enough thought at the time.

      Maybe we'll revisit the logo sometime down the road, but for now we need to move on and continue working on other issues.

      Huh, so my amazingly clever idea of spoofing popular cellphone brand logos has failed to get anywhere?

      ... At least we decided on something now. I do admit the logo seems to be quite suitable
