• Virgin Mobile USA Sticking To Stock UI For Its Android Phones

    Virgin Mobile USA has stated that all Android handsets it offers will only have the stock Android UI and not come with manufacturer UI overlays. However, Virgin Mobile USA will still have icons for their own apps pre-installed.

    "Virgin Mobile USA aims to make available devices that allow the end user to have the freedom to customize the device to their liking. We like to take a consistent approach with our Android portfolio and so we prefer to have the true Android experience loaded on all our Android phones," a Virgin spokesperson said in an email to PCMag.com.
    This could make software updates easier and more timely for Virgin Mobile USA Android handsets.

      It's a good start. We should have the option to add the overlay or remove it. Just as we should have the option to remove those crap apps that we currently cannot uninstall without rooting the phone.

      Let us remove the junkware it comes with, please! Seriously, that's what drives people to start rooting in the first place.
