Apple To Pay Nokia To Settle Patent Dispute (Updated)
The back and forth patent dispute that has gone on for a while now between Apple and Nokia has been settled with Apple agreeing to license patents from Nokia. As a result Apple will start with making an initial payment to Nokia and will continue to make royalty payments for the duration of the agreement. It is not clear how much Apple will be paying. It is also worth noting that the issue wasn't about whether or not Apple should be paying Nokia, but how much
they should be paying to license Nokia's patents, as Apple believed Nokia wasn't giving them a fair and reasonable price.
This effectively ends the dispute between the two companies.
$608 million up front, ~$138 million a quarter (http://www.macrumors.com/2011/06/14/...kia-estimated/
