• Verizon to Challenge AT&T, Comcast with Fixed LTE Service

Verizon has indicated that it plans a residential LTE broadband service that could roll out in the fourth quarter, a fixed antenna that would challenge AT&T, Comcast and others for a home broadband connection.

Verizon also reiterated that it plans to concentrate its FiOS investments in areas it already serves.

Verizon executives said that a national rollout of a fixed broadband LTE voice and data package could be based on the "cantenna," a fixed antenna that it has already deployed with DirecTV, according to comments made by Francis J. Shammo, Verizon's chief financial officer, during Verizon's earnings call last Friday.

we need to limit verizons access into our lives NOT EXPAND IT AND MAKE IT EVEN MORE INVASIVE..get rid of them now , it may already be too late!invite Chinese Corp to replace AT&T, verizon, sprint (although after dealing with sprint for afew years I swore that I would make it my lifes mission to bring them down to 3rd place , (everyone say THANK YOUI BILL !!) where they are now and they still stink !! So 4th ? I actually believe that taking verison to 3rd place would now be appropriate .SO DO IT..STOP BUYING VERIAZON ANYTHING ,,stop now , no excuses STOP STOP STOP

I wonder how they would price their plans... and whether it would be a true competitor to DSL and cable, or a higher priced alternative for out of town folks who need faster broadband than satellite / 3G cards.

Clear is offered in my area, and one of the things I immediately noticed was the toll peak times takes on download speeds. Given these are mostly home users, Internet access got slow on evenings / early nights (when people return home from school/work) and weekends. I couldn't even use YouTube and there was a lot of lag going from page to page during those times. On the other hand, I kept my 6mb DSL line which gives me consistant speeds all the time.

Hopefully they provide a good product at least for those who live out of town. I've lived out of town and it's tough getting good broadband access out there (you're dealing either with very high prices, slow speeds, and/or download caps).
