    Verizon Wireless will launch a nationwide Voice over LTE service in early 2013, according to a report in Light Reading. Previously, Verizon executives had said the carrier would launch VoLTE in 2012.

      This allows the voice to use the LTE band. This will be needed to get rid of 1x voice and gain better voice quality. Also the ability to use data and voice at the same time, eventually leading to lower monthly costs. VoLTE is a voip protocol.
