Among the Tier 1 carriers, Sprint Nextel (NYSE:S) and Verizon Wireless (NYSE:VZ) led the way with scores of 72. While Verizon's score has been relatively constant since 2007, Sprint's score represents a dramatic improvement from 2008, when it had an all-time-low score of 56. Sprint received scores of 63 in 2009 and 70 in 2010. Sprint CEO Dan Hesse continually points to the company's improvement in customer care as one of the carrier's signature achievements since he took over in late 2007 from Gary Forsee.

Here is the full lineup of new rate plans for both individual and family calling available on May 22nd:

    http://www.tmonews.com/2011/05/t-mob...s-on-may-22nd/

It would appear that T-Mobile is really trying to restrict choices. If you want text or data, there are only two choices of plans available. The 1000 minute individual plan or the 2000 minute family are restricted to talk only and have very limited appeal.

    There are now 4 data tiers---200 MB, 2GB, 5GB and 10GB.

With the unlimited plan, you are required to get text or text+data.

All new plans require a 2 year commitment. And Even More Plus is available but now requires a 2 year commitment.

If you want a current plan, get it by May 22nd.

This is sure to make many people happy as 4G LTE service will be activated in Pensacola, Tallahassee, and Gainesville Florida; Montgomery and Mobile, Alabama; Fayetteville-Lumberton, North Carolina, and in and around Philadelphia on May 19th. It looks like the Philly area will be greatly improved as LTE is expanded throughout the entire region. All I can say is that Verizon is clearly separating itself from the crowd with this LTE roll-out. They are so far ahead with their 4G deployment and shown a real commitment to dominate the market - it's almost hard to believe. Verizon has really put themselves in a nice position. I'm sure there are many contemplating switching over including myself. Here's the article which also has Verizon's press release detailing the added markets...

On April 2nd Apple posted a job listing looking for a "Carrier Engineer" located in the city of Kansas City, Missouri; very near the home of you know who.

Member of the Carrier Engineering team that supports taking products through technical approval at the carriers. A Carrier Engineer team is responsible for day-to-day technical interactions with the one or more carriers to track down issues reported by the carrier, assist the carrier with testing they might be conducting and working with program management, software development and test teams to get products approved by the carriers.
Could this mean a Sprint iPhone is on the way?

Update: Apple has changed the position location to Cupertino, CA. So much for that...

Dan Hesse had to open his mouth about Sprint probably being acquired if the AT&T-T-Mobile deal goes through. Now the rumors/speculation are flying about Sprint being acquired by CenturyLink. For more on this go to Bloomberg:

To me it looks like they're just throwing spaghetti against the wall and seeing if it sticks. I don't know if I buy it.

Interesting to see that in independent testing, T-Mobile's LTE and HSPA+ easily match Verizon's LTE overall - for half the price.
