T-Mobile USA Waives Call Charges to Japan and Wi-Fi Calling and Text Messaging Charges to and From Japan

T-Mobile USA, Inc. today announced that the company is taking steps to provide relief and help customers stay connected to loved ones in the aftermath of the earthquakes and tsunami in Japan.
“During this difficult time, our thoughts are with the people of Japan,” said Philipp Humm, CEO and president, T-Mobile USA. “Many of T-Mobile’s customers, their friends and families have been directly impacted by this disaster, and our promise is to help them connect with their loved ones.”
Effective immediately:

T-Mobile USA is enabling phone calls to Japan for postpaid customers without charges for international long distance through March 31, 2011, and retroactive to March 11, 2011.
T-Mobile postpaid customers can make Wi-Fi calls to and from Japan free of charge through March 31, 2011, and retroactive to March 11, 2011.
Text (SMS) messaging is also free of charge to and from Japan for T-Mobile postpaid customers through March 31, 2011 and retroactive to March 11, 2011.

Ways Customers Can Directly Assist Relief Efforts

If you are a T-Mobile prepaid or postpaid customer interested in helping immediately, you can text “REDCROSS” to 90999, and your donation of $10 will be given automatically to the Red Crossto help with relief efforts. This donation will be charged to your T-Mobile phone bill, and 100 percent of the donation goes directly to the Red Cross. There is no per-text fee for this service for T-Mobile customers who do not have a messaging plan, nor will the text be deducted from your messaging plan. Similarly, you can send donations via text message to a number of other relief organizations. T-Mobile does not charge for text messages sent to mobile giving campaigns.

Verizon and HTC announced via press release that the eagerly awaited LTE-capable HTC Thunderbolt will be available on March 17th for $249.99 with a two-year contract.

4G LTE unlimited data is $29.99 a month and Verizon is offering Mobile Hotspot for free with the device through May 15th.

In an effort to help people reach out to loved ones in Japan after the recent earthquake and tsunami, AT&T and Verizon will offer free calling and waived text charges until the end of this month.

According to the official Windows Phone Blog, the long awaited update to Windows Phone 7 sporting copy-and-paste functionality has been delayed until the latter half of this month:

Status of the “copy and paste” update

We have the next update waiting in the wings. It delivers copy and paste, better Marketplace search, and other key improvements.

But I believe it’s important that we learn all we can from the February update. So I’ve decided to take some extra time to ensure the update process meets our standards, your standards, and the standards of our partners. As a result, our plan is to start delivering the copy-and-paste update in the latter half of March.

The delay shouldn't affect the update announced at Mobile World Congress:

This short pause should in no way impact the timing of future updates, including the one announced recently at Mobile World Congress featuring multitasking, a Twitter feature, and a new HTML 5-friendly version of Internet Explorer Mobile.

Angry Farm, a game freakishly similar to Angry Birds, has come to BlackBerry. It sports Angry Birds-like slingshot action against opponents protected by fortresses.

It's the closest that BlackBerry fans can currently get to Angry Birds and is available in BlackBerry App World here for $4.99.
