Att Gophone should be getting LTE data support as of today if everything goes as announced. That means blazingly fast data and the coveted "LTE" 4G status for the nation's largest gsm carrier on prepaid . LTE is not everywhere, even on a network as large as Att's but it will probably beat competing 4G prepaid networks like Sprint's. Verizon itself has nothing in the 4G arena yet except for LTE broadband/mifi/tablet data on Verizon prepaid. Everything else is evdo/3g cdma.

When will the Att mvnos start getting LTE ? Who will probably get it first? Will this push Verizon to hasten their slowness in responding?

Any Ting customers in NY? I'd like to know what to expect for taxes and fees. We're currently with Sprint in upstate NY and the taxes and fees are outrageous: about 23%. What would Ting be?

It's so great with PagePlus where there are NO taxes and fees and a $30 plan is really just $30 (or less!).

I've wondering why some MVNOs sometimes lose their customers' numbers, specially Tracfone's brands. Is this simply some random mistakes that the calling center reps make or software glitch?

What happens to the numbers when an MVNO goes broke? Who "owns" the numbers? Is there any other preventive measures besides porting the number to Google Voice?

I've been googling this for days, but is there ANY way to take my S3 to a prepaid Carrier? Which one? I can't seem to find anyone that does a CDMA phone! Only GSM ones. Pulling what little hair I have out slowly trying to solve this! The phone is currently active on US Cell. :doh:

Since the news hit that America Movile is buying out Page Plus, I might have to go with TalkForGood Wireless.

However, it depends on whether or not I can buy a prepaid card/PIN at my local gas station. I hate autorenew BS and I hate having to use my credit card as payment for something that doesn't have a real presence.

I've been doing research on switching to a pre-pay service, probably through MVNO, and I've been getting links to your forum like crazy. The forum has already been a great help, so thanks a lot. I look forward to participating in the community here. But, on to my question:

What MVNO/prepay would you recommend?

1. I live in the zip 21776 (Verizon, att, and possibly sprint seem to be decent here. T-Mobile is awful here)
2. I'm looking to save money, budget is getting tight!
3. I would like to bring my existing iPhone 5 to the new carrier (unlocked, compatible with GSM or CDMA)
4. Prefer unlimited data (if possible, not terribly important)
5. At least 350 minutes
6. At least 500 texts (duh, can just use data!)

Any of those last three bullets are negotiable, I can adjust my practices according to what plan is the best value. I just don't want a contract plan, or a plan where I have to pay as I go. Red Pocket seems to be a good candidate so far, as does Straight Talk (ugh).

I appreciate any help greatly!

I'm trying to choose a very basic plan on Spot Mobile, like the $5 or $10 pay as you go plans.

But i have maybe a silly question, the $5 and $10 plans have the same specifications. No inclusions are mentioned.

Does the $10 plan simply include 50 additional voice minutes ($0.10/min) or 100 text messages ($0.05/text) for example? I am assuming this is how it works. Its strange that no details or includes are given.

Morning all! I just purchased a samsung galaxy s II w/ my virgin mobile cash balance, but as I have the PayLo plan, cannot activate the phone w/ VM. I was looking around and like Ting or the new Zact as it offers the voice plan w/out data but ... doesnt look like I can activate the VM branded phone. Or maybe the SGSII is not supported.
Does anyone have a suggestion as to a voice-only plan that supports this phone? Do I need to unlock/unbrand the phone and then use it elsewhere? I am a total n00b and could use some guidance. Right now I am getting my feet wet trying to figure out how to use the features using wifi for data, which is fine. I would only maybe occasionally use data for gps. I just dont want to carry around 2 phones if I could use the one for my very rare phone call.
